ARC Rally 2016 - Bagamoyo

mmmmhhh kuna watu wanabahati
Sio bahati tu, it's all about safety.. Ingekuwa ni gari ya kawaida hapo wala hakuna kupona. Msome hapa chini alivyoandika baada ya kurudi nyumbani..

Dear all,
Issack Taylor and I would like to extend our sincere thank you to everyone who helped us during our accident. People whom I met for the first time, people whom I knew helped me with my injuries giving first aid assistance, especially those who took time to aid my injuries with our first aid kit...I remember faces but ib don't remember their names but am sure Mzee Hussein Moor you know them, please extend my gratitude to them. Mzee Hussein thank you for taking me to the ambulance and making sure I am in good hands. Marcel and Doctor Akshay, nurses and Bagamoyo Hospital thank you for all your care, support and help. Mzee Athuman thanks for your support and advice.
For those whom we forgot to say thank you to; please forgive us...but our special Asante goes to you all. For everyone who helped Issack at the scene thank you so much. May God bless you all always

It's almost two weeks after the huge roll we had. It was indeed a huge roll and we are both blessed to be among you all today. We would like to point out a few issues that we think are very important for us all of us and some am sure are eagerly waiting to hear.

Here is it:

1: Hans device - this device is a must for all rally car category. Please do take this seriously. This device saved us both from loosing our lives or being seriously injured with or necks or backs. We thank God that Hans Device saved our lives.
- may I request our safety committee if there is any .. to educate us all more about these devices and suggest the best device for drivers and navigators, male and female. What to do, how to wear them, which belts are fit for these devices etc. We all only buy them without knowing that they come in sizes or what's best for us.
- for the ladies I can only do one thing is ask Hans himself what's best and than spread the word out. I am seriously hurt until today I have chest pains.

2: Ambulance assistance to be closer to the sections than to be parked at the service park. My chest was hurting a great deal and we had to drive all the way to the service park to get help. Ambulance should be stationed in three places - entry, middle and out of the sections. Both Issack and I where tonget first aid at the scene and not be moved and if there were no other choice than to move...but it shouldn't have to be that far a distance. No medical assistance went out to see if Issack was okay until Issack came back to the service park driven by a friend.
If the ambulance was at the end of the section it would have been much easier to get help quicker. Please do so next .. this accident ended up well with us but next time you never know.

3: Fire extinguishers to be set well and secure in all rally cars. Preferably with extra straps to avoid getting off the rack. This happend in our case.

4: Roll Cage - get proper advice and professional guidance and people who really know how to make a roll cage. This is so important to all of us. The impact we had was so big if we didn't have a proper roll cage it would have been another story with us today.

5: First Aid kit....it is necessary to have the adviced medication needed in all kits. If doctor Akshay Pratap can supply us all with a full list it will be useful. In Tanzania we don't have mini spirit or tinture bottles to keep in our kits. Please assist Dr. Akshay on this.

6: Spectators - this time I can say the spectators where lucky and blessed. I know that Faheem Aloo is busy with safety around spectators...please continue. Please do check the roads as well and let the spectators know best places to stand and maybe advisable to park their cars at a distance to avoid what happened to a spectators cars in bagamoyo.

For today this is all I have for you. Please let's not joke around in regards to safety, let us be serious and be safe with our lives.

We are all a team and we need to share issues together that we have encountered. If any of you have other issues to add and advice please do add.

Thank you all and stay well and blessed always.

Regards from Issack and Monica
