The point is in state/public events there should be no religion involved as the constitution does not acknowledge religion.

"the world would be boring place if all we were the same"
so respect opinions of others if you want yours to be respected also!
NB:atheism is quite different from paganism.

I think instead of asking for EQUAL representation of religious beliefs in public gatherings, we should ask for an EQUITABLE representation (meaning that larger groups are recognized more than others).
Example: If we have a gathering of 100 people broken up into:
60 Christians
45 Muslims
1 Hindu
2 Pagans
2 Atheists,
maybe we should give Muslims and Christians equal times for prayers and none for the rest. I think if the other minority faiths come forward and ask for time to pray, they should be accorded some time but not necessarily equal to the major faiths.
Real,mate?
Some religions teaches people to radicals and deal with pet things seriously
You once said it is secular then why do we need talk about it ?
I guess it clearly declared unless you feel offended that you think your religion in some ways somewhat isn't given priorities!
No offenses sir... but be open minded bring the topic straight where have you observed such conducts of not being done as the constitution would imply then we talk about it sir!

Government ought to be neutral on this issue.
Which faith?yet our country is a secular country. We don't have a state religion
Our country has no religion!! We should be faithful to our documents.
Mate, you are confusing issues here sir!
The government is not operating under certain religion beliefs or any member of the government and or civilians are not coerced to believe in any religion.....
That is a must like
1.UK - Christian specifically Agrican
2.UAE- ISLAM
Tanzania uwe una abudu mgomba, Mungu, miungu, hauna dini, as long as hauvunji sheria za nchi na wewe ni raia mwema then go ahead!
Coz kuna watu tu, I am pretty sure wao ni shida by default. .
Personally my perceptions in religions matters is quiet amusing...
I consider religions as human traditions/culture or taboos...
God is one! Wapo watu wanatumia dini ku fool around.
Imagine hata Roma?
Baana tu quit hii kitu!
Binadamu is far extreme...
And binadamu anaeza kuishi beyond his limits we acha baana.....
Emotional Intelligence rules mankind affair. .. know thyself
I agree with you 100%. As long as the government does not favor a particular faith and the Constitution is not religious-based, I am happy.
Saying prayers in public gatherings is in recognition of the people in those meetings.
If the President went to address a meeting of Muslims (example the IDD Baraza), I would expect him to hear Islamic prayers only.
I the President is addressing a meeting of Christians (example, kusimikwa kwa Baba Askofu), I would expect him to hear Christian prayers only.
However, if the President is addressing a mixed gathering (Uhuru celebrations), I would expect him to give all faiths opportunity to pray for the nation. NOTHING WRONG HERE.
