Your thinking is very myopic to say the least.

It doesn't matter if Uhuru Kenyatta is going to the Hague or not (in my opinion he will not go)
...what matters is the consequences that Kenyans have to face. Giving me an example of Bashir goes to show your appreciation of all matters political and I will live you at that. Its the same scenario in Zimbabwe under Mugabe...just ask the local people how hard life is under such regimes and you will get a clear answer.

The supreme court has conducted their role with utmost professionalism or how do you view this; unlike politicians that dealt with the petition failing to curb the monstrosity that drives them.

.....There is no tact for western imperial rule remaining here by failing to secure a slot for their preffered candidate other than sheer dissapointment which is very plain even to the naked eye. no need to cover up a fried operation; other than a need to rethink, what they need to do or say, whilst considering the consequences thereafter. diplomatically,geopolitically! neo-colonialists need to consider their decisions/actions for the long term interests of those that elected them (people's mandate/power) or for the diminutive period remaining to be in power

There is always this dire temptation to always overlook the electorate/kenyans for their role in in determining the leaders they choose as witnesses recently when kofi annan in a brief statement lauded the supreme court for their decision. I think the court deserves credit in handling this situation professionally, but more importantly that there is no kenyan that thought of looting, killing the other ethnic tribe

Me nadhani yaliyotokea 2007 wakenya ndo walioathilika kwa 99.9% wanajua kilichotokea na wanajua wahusika kuliko mtu yeyote yule(including ICC). Wamefanya maamuzi wanayojua kua ni sahihi, wagombea wote walikua wazaliwa wa kenya na wameishi kenya kwa maana hiyo wakenya wanawajua vizuri sana wagombea kuliko mtu yeyote yule. Elimu ya uraia kenya iko juu ukulinganisha na mataifa ya E/Africa, naomba tuheshimu maamuzi yao japo hatuyapendi. Hague court asks its registrar to consider video link in Ruto trial

The International Criminal Court has directed its registrar to file details on how Deputy President-elect William Ruto can stand trial via video link.

The registrar was directed to give submissions on the reliability of equipment and the connection between the court in The Hague and the venue where the two will attend court. He has also been instructed to give details of a venue where the equipment will be installed in Nairobi or the region and whether Mr Ruto will be able to attend court sessions from the venue via video link.

President-Elect Uhuru Kenyatta - who is also facing crimes against humanity charges - had also asked the court to be allowed to attend session via video link. His case was not mentioned on Tuesday.

The other suspect, Mr Joshua arap Sang, has been attending sessions at The Hague.

At the height of the presidential campaigns ahead of the March 4 election, Mr Kenyatta's and Mr Ruto's defence teams had requested that the two be allowed to appear via video link to enable them run the country, if elected.

Judges Kuniko Ozaki, Christine Van den Wyngaert and Chile Eboe-Osuji gave the registrar until Tuesday to file the replies.

The judges also asked the registry to make public submissions by lawyers for the victims in reply to the request for Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto to appear via video link.

The submissions had been made under seal, meaning the suspects and the public could not get full details.

Meanwhile, a US State Department official said on Monday that his country "will look carefully at the actions of Kenya's leaders and government" in the coming months. "We cannot ignore the serious charges that have been set out in the ICC indictment, and will calibrate our engagement accordingly," the department's spokesperson for African affairs, Ms Hilary Renner, said.

Her comments in an e-mail message to the Nation suggest that the Obama administration intends to make good on earlier warnings by its top Africa diplomat of "consequences" that would ensue for US relations with Kenya if certain candidates - understood to be Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto - were elected.

The State Department did not specify how it will "calibrate" US engagement with a Kenya led by a president and deputy facing trial on charges of crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, Germany has joined the list of nations that have congratulated Mr Kenyatta for being elected Kenya's fourth President.

The German president, Mr Joachim Gauck, acknowledged President-elect Kenyatta and pledged his support for a peaceful and prosperous Kenya. He also commended the country for a peaceful election of members of the bicameral Parliament, governors and the county assembly representatives.

"Together with the Kenyan people, we are happy about the largely peaceful conduct of the elections," he said and expressed his optimism that the country would tread on a democratic path and drive successful development.

Germany was instrumental in the crafting of the current devolved government adopted by Kenya.

Uhuru: Why ICC should drop charges against me

Nairobi, Kenya: President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta has explained to trial judges at the International Criminal Court why he wants them to dismiss the case against him, or send it back to the Pre-Trial Chamber II.

In submissions filed by his lawyers Steven Kay and Gillian Higgins, Uhuru argues the prosecution has built a new case after discarding testimony used by Pre-Trial Chamber II judges to confirm the charges against him.

Uhuru has asked the Trial Chamber judges to refer the decision to confirm charges against him back to the Pre-Trial Chamber II for reconsideration, arguing his committal to trial is based on false testimony.

ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda dropped witness number four after he recanted his evidence and, subsequently, dropped the charges against Uhuru's co-accused, former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura.Uhuru's legal team argues that as with Muthaura, the grounds for terminating the trial against Uhuru are based similarly on a lack of evidence to support the confirmation of charges decision.

They cite Article 64(4) of the Statute saying failure by the prosecutor to disclose key evidence has an impact on the conduct of the proceedings now before the Trial Chamber.

"The defence submits that the withdrawal by the prosecutor of the charges against Muthaura requires the Chamber in this case to consider exercising its power to terminate the proceedings against Mr Kenyatta, in performing its functions prior to the commencement of trial," his lawyers argue.

Uhuru has consistently reiterated that his case at The Hague cannot stand without that of Muthaura since the two cases are linked.

He has argued the prosecution has consistently framed its case as a common plan involving the two of them.

"Any decision regarding the liability of Muthaura would necessarily, on the prosecution's own analysis, impact on any determination of Uhuru's liability. In short, the mode of liability as confirmed cannot be maintained against Uhuru without Muthaura," his lawyers said.
