Bravo: Kenya enters children's animation arena

An upstart entertainment company in Kenya is producing a children's animation series called Tinga Tinga tales for the BBC and Disney.

It is hoped this will mark the birth of an exciting new African entertainment sector.

Egon Cossou visited the offices of Homeboys production company to see how the animation is getting along.

This makes me laugh so Tinga tinga has become Kenyan now? this makes me wonder whether these greedy people can ever have a sense of copy right? 😀 are there any numerations being paid to Tingatinga institutes as the owner of that piece of art? I am afraid not! i have to say as an artist myself i don't like this art theft that these greedy people are good at! Where are our responsible institutions to sue these fools? haya majitu ni majizi na kila siku hayaishi kujisifu ati yako creative!

I am so disappointed why was this project given to some dumb people in Kenya (

Acheni kulalama, do something! mlikuwa wapi siku zote. Opportunity mnazo lakini hamjui kuzitumia wala hamtaki kuzitumia, sasa mtatia akili with the greedy and aggressive kenyans in the picture.

Mkuchika ndiye anapaswa ku-file a suit na si sisi, tunachoweza kufanya hapa niku-alert au whistle blowing issues so kulalama ni haki yetu!

shukran kwa hii info na kama wasemavyo waswahili wajinga nd'o
waliwao. Serikali imejaa mafisadi papa who are busy stealing from
the citizenry huku wajapan wakifanya kweli kwenye ishu ambayo
ingekua yetu. Hata neno Zanzibar humu marekani wamelifanya lao
na tukiwaambia ni kisiwa chetu wanasema we didn't patent the
name.

Geza, kuna taarifa kuwa mwaka juzi kuna mzungu mmoja aliwachukua kuwapeleka Nairobi baadhi ya vijana wa Tinga Tinga bila mikataba yeyote ya Intellectual Property na wala sishangai hicho kinachoendelea--exploitation!!

Wabanwe tu ili wawe wanalipia kwa kila movie watakayokuwa wana-produce!

Ofcourse we hate your greedy Mr Creative! That's someone work, i wonder how come a Kenyan makes animation on that piece of art? that's theft and no one likes theft! where is your Kenyan creativeness you have been making noises about all along?
 


Just give credit where its due and move on to the next idea project...

IF that's the creativenes you are proud of, it no wonder Kenya is of ****! How come you steal our Picasso creativeness and make yours! How come that Kenya most you claim to have smart people keep on leading on theft of our Art works! from Makonde Art to now Tingatinga and you shit here that you deserve credit! you are really a fool with ignorany on intellectual property rights myfriend!
 


I knew it!! ...You can call all the names you want, you can hem and haw all you want, lakini that tinga tinga animation is still being done by Kenyans. So there!!!

In Africa its not only the Makonde who do Wood carving/Art work as you call it. In Kenya just so you know the Kambas are renown woodcarvers. We have been exporting curios for the longest time. Wood carving has made millions for some Kenyans.

Mind your language too. I have not used any abusive language to you so i do not see the reason for to do so.

That tingatinga animation Im sure was a well thought out project. Im sure those dumb kenyans made a bid on it and were selected, its an open playing ground out there.

Stealing is not as easy as you want to think, it requires creativity, cleverness, cunningness, ingenuity, intelligence and so on and so forth...

It takes one fool to know another. So if am a fool you are too for bandying words with me. teehee heee!

I have alot of understanding about Intellectual property rights. EXCUSE YOU!!!

I told you before do not presume to judge Kenyans by your narrow minded standards. I fear for the people you interact with every day, they must be close to going loco, cuckoo, mad.
 
If Kambas were naturally carvers, they would have Kamba carvings and not Makonde Carvings! i think you get my point now, your creativeness as a nation is on how to benefit from others creativeness! And for your info there was no tender floated and a lawsuit is being filed against BBC, so lets wait and see!
 
I think professionals should be professionals. Benefiting from someone's work without permission or some sort of agreement is greedy and nothing else but theft. I think we shouldn't be proud of being smart by stealing someone's else rights!!!!!!!
