Rais Lula alishindwa kugombea katika Uchaguzi uliopita wa Urais mwaka wa 2018 kutokana na kuwa gerezani kwa Siku 580 kabla ya hukumu yake kubatilishwa na kupigwa marufuku kugombea wadhifa huo baada ya kutoka.
Alipatikana na hatia ya kupokea #Rushwa kutoka kwa Kampuni ya Ujenzi ya Brazil kama malipo ya kandarasi na Kampuni ya Mafuta ya serikali ya Petrobras.
