BRAZIL
Gomes – 7.5 – Genuinely tested far more frequently than he would have liked. Coped with the Tanzanian threat well, though his handling was not always perfect. Had no chance with Aziz's goal.
Maicon – 7 – An effective attacking outlet throughout, there was little real danger posed down his flank. Delightful cross to set up Kaka for the evening's fourth goal.
Lucio – 6.5 – Brazil's defence was not always perfect in the first half, and the Inter centre-back was certainly part culpable for their struggles. Replaced at half-time by Luisao after an awkward 45 minutes.
Juan – 6.5 – Nearly scored an own-goal in the early stages of the match as Tanzania impressed. Ultimately the rating of the centre-back was bumped up by a competent second half display, during which he looked steady, even if meaningful tests were infrequent.
Michel Bastos – 5 – Frequently torn to shreds in the first half by Ngasso as his lack of defensive instincts were brutally exposed. Far more effective going forward, and his cross for Robinho's second goal was wonderful.
Elano – 5.5 – Struggled to really contribute on the offensive front when he was on the field, meaning that he spent long periods of the game in relative anonymity. Brazil were far brighter down the right once he was replaced.
Gilberto Silva – 5 – Brazil really struggled in the centre of the midfield for the duration of the first period, and the veteran midfielder did little to aid their cause. Outworked and forced into mistakes.
Felipe Melo – 5.5 – At times struggled to get a handle on the game in the first half, with his distribution particularly questionable. With his frustration levels increasing, so too did the firmness off his tackles. Unsurprisingly withdrawn at half-time.
Kaka – 7 – Something of a mixed game by the Real Madrid man, who found space and time a precious commodity in the first half. Improved after the interval, controlling the pace of the match and even scoring with his chest from close range.
Robinho – 8 – During a first half in which Brazil were very flat indeed, Robinho looked like the one player capable of providing them with a spark. Took his first goal very well and reacted well to grab a second. Occasionally picked out some terrific passes.
Luis Fabiano – 6 – A difficult outing for the Sevilla striker, who really struggled to get much going. One great first half chance fell to him, but he was ultimately hustled out of it. Didn't look especially sharp.
Substitutes
Gilberto – 6.5 – Didn't offer the attacking threat of Michel Bastos, but was at least more secure defensively.
Luisao – 6.5 – Had no major problems to deal with in the second period, but mopped up what issues there were competently.
Josue – 6.5 – Steadied the ship in the centre of the park, playing primarily an anchoring role after being brought on at half-time.
Ramires – 8 – Not noted for his goals, but the holding midfielder may have done enough to break into the first XI in time for the North Korea fixture with an industrious box-to-box performance. Might even have had a hat-trick on the evening on which he scored his first international strike.
Daniel Alves – 6.5 – Brazil were flat down the right before Alves came on, though the Barcelona man has marks taken off for a couple of feisty reactions that could have seen him dismissed on another evening.
Nilmar – 6 – Only on the field for the last quarter of an hour but managed to offer a threat due to his movement.
