PALU Invitation to Membership Recruitment Activity and Seminar on Recent Developments in International Law in Africa – Friday 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] May 2013
Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) cordially invites you to a half-day inaugural Membership Recruitment Activity for Arusha and a Seminar on the theme “Recent Developments in International Law in Africa”, on the afternoon of Friday 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] May 2013 (2.30 – 5.00 p.m.), at Kibo Palace Hotel, Arusha. The event is free of charge and open to all African and Diaspora lawyers. Simultaneous interpretation (English and French) will be provided during the Seminar.

PALU is the umbrella association of African lawyers and law societies. It brings together the continent’s five regional and fifty-four national lawyers associations, as well as individual lawyer-members. Our mission is to work towards the development of the law and legal profession, the rule of law, human rights and socio-economic development of the African continent, including through supporting African regional integration.

A brief outline of the activities that will take place:

  • Discussions on the recent law making and implementation efforts of the African Union (AU) and its Regional Economic Communities (RECs);
  • Reflections on recent jurisprudence from the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) and on the place and impact of Africa in the International Criminal Law Landscape;
  • Launch of our new Journal: The Pan African Yearbook of Law (PAYL); and most importantly
  • Membership Recruitment Activity for Arusha where we aim to include in our ranks of members all African and Diaspora Lawyers residing in Arusha, whether practicing Law, teaching or working in the several International Organizations based in Arusha.
