Canadian company surrender to Tanzania president Magufuli on avoiding tax payments

Many Congratulations President John Magufuli and his team for achieving heroic and stunning victory. This outcome should be celebrated by all Tanzanians of all parties and no parties, all Africans and everybody around the world who loves equality, justice and fairness.

In this negotiation he has proved himself to be master tactician and brilliant strategist. First for giving them 190 bn tax bill and the same time telling them you can leave if you don't give us fair deal despite threat of court actions and sanctions. He obvious knew they couldn't pay that amount and they had nowhere to go. They capitulated in the end and gave in to most important demands of his government.

I particular like these words from Professor John Thornton "I would like to finish by again both thanking and congratulating President Magufuli, because he has been absolutely instrumental in creating this partnership and allow it to occur. And for my point of view and i see this all over the world, this is single most distinctive business model for twenty first century that exist in the world. The fact that it has been created here in Tanzania it is great great compliment to the country (Tanzania) and its leader".

Hopeful the government will strike similar kind of deal (fair and equitable) with other companies who mines diamond, silver, iron ore, nickel, copper, cobalt, tanzanite, ruby, uranium, gas, oil and other resources in Tanzania.

Congratulations to everybody who was involved and made this happen.

*Impossible move, Barrick Gold sells 16-per-cent stake in three mines to Tanzania* Barrick Gold will give Tanzania a 16 per cent stake in three gold mines, a 50 per cent share in revenues from the mines and a one-off payment of $300-million to resolve a dispute that has hit its operations in the country, the two sides said.

The only question is on how a weak country like Tanzania can impose restrictions on Canadian company and give out good results
Majibu tafadhali! Sio kupiga mikelele tu huku hamna msaada wa kitaalamu!

He is indeed a swindler. This dude has been a senior government official for over 20 years; participated in endorsing all the shitty and stratagem contracts and businesses. And now he pretends to be legit and real?
He ain’t only a swindler, but a thief and crook of a person! He thieved a lot when he was a minister in different ministries! Like all CCM crooks and thieves, he is actually supposed to be in jail, and not Ikulu!

Come on, go and tell him that he needs to learn acting skills from Bongo movies! Yes, Bongo movies; because his acting skills are soo bad to the extent that Bongo movies look like Hollywood!
.
If you take your time to look at this saga from above, like an eagle soaring above the clouds, you can see clearly that President Magufuli was not one of those thieves you are talking about.

Unless there is an agenda, only then, one can blindly believe that the mighty Barrick, with all connections and deep pockets, would not use Magufuli dark past as a bargaining chip to strike a better deal. Seeing everything going smoothly, no articles or posts about his shitty contracts in the news, it makes some of us question your intentions.

I guess you need to go back and read CAG’s reports on contracts for road construction and the purchase of Dar es Salaam Ferry. Besides, I haven’t even talked about how he facilitated the selling out of government houses at sell out prices. And I’m not talking about his ufisadi on Chato Airport construction and buying of new planes.

He wasn't the president then, who was he to question his superior?

Oh! Did he need his superior’s permission to have over TZS 200+B worth of stratagem contracts? Did he need permission from his superior to buy a second hand Ferry from Bangladesh at an overpriced rate even for a new one? I guess not!

Besides, a principled man questions his superiors whenever his superiors do somethings that are against that man’s principles! So what did Magufuli do? He put his tail between his legs! Cause he ain’t principled; he is a phony.

The best thing he should done was to resign if his principles were threatened by his superiors’ wrong-doings! Funnier enough this swindler of a person even praised his superior over ‘safari za nje’, uttering that he should do nore of those ‘safari’ to bring money for ‘kujenga barabara’.

Mzee, Magufuli ni bonge la msanii, mzandiki, mnafiki, mwizi, fisadi anayepaswa kuwa jela, na siyo Ikulu.

Ministers don't have the luxury of getting 200Billion of shillings from treasury without the permission from the president.

I Know where you are coming from and I appreciate raising the issue of being principled but there are more than one way to skin the cat. There are times in life where one has to look at a much broader perspective, quitting would had made him a 'Mr. has been' while patience maketh man. Now he is in a position to do all good things for the betterment of our country.

Having said that, I know Mr president is not perfect, he has his flaws and lots of it; however, comparing to where our country was, he is doing more than what we expected. Tanzania needs a bold leader, one who can stand and say; "if you don't allow our milk sold in Kenya we will also ban yours". Someone who will build Stielger Gorge dam (40 something year old dream) so our country will have sufficient electricity. If you don't think that is important, then I don't know what else to say.

Mzee, Magufuli ni bonge la msanii, mzandiki, mnafiki, mwizi, fisadi anayepaswa kuwa jela, na siyo Ikulu.
.
I don't see any 'usanii' on his face, as a matter of fact he has been fulfilling his campaign promises, doing exactly what we expected him to do.

The Bazungius say ‘if you cannot defeat them you join them in order to fight them from within’ that is what the Hon President Dr Magufuli has done in the ruling party CCM’ hence you are wrong in blaming the President instead of appreciating what he has so far achieved.

Atakuwa ikulu na utacheza mziki wake hadi 2025. Na hamna jambo mtafanya.

You want to tell us that the results from the dialogue are phony? By the way, what is the concept behind your argument?

Where did I even mention the word dialogue?

May be you want to off set the main theme of the thread. Nonetheless, work it out. Take him to where you think he deserves!
