Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama should be punished for "ridiculing key state officers" or face citizen arrest, a legislator has said. Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru yesterday filed a complaint with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission.
"If no legal action is taken, we will hold a rally for Jubilee supporters over the weekend at Uhuru Park and march to Muthama's home to initiate citizen arrest," he said.
Waweru said Muthama made abusive claims during the rally at Uhuru Park on Wednesday. Muthama allegedly termed Devolution CS Anne Waiguru the President's lover "despite knowing the President is happily married and a committed family man".
Waweru also lists the alleged reference to Uhuru as a "careless President preoccupied with his alleged clandestine lover". "The senator implied that Uhuru favours Waiguru more than other CSs and for reasons other than her professionalism and diligence," he said.
The MP said Muthama threatened that teachers who return to school as advised by Uhuru will be stoned. He reported that the senator said Uhuru will be "smoked out of State House soon" if he does not resign. Waweru said the senator broke the NCIC law prohibiting "threatening, abusive or insulting words", and similar behaviour.
The MP said Muthama "made a mockery" of moral and ethical standards governing leaders, and "scorned" the Public Officers Ethics Act.
"The list of laws Muthama abused on live television through his utterances is endless," Waweru said.
He demanded immediate action by security agencies. During the Cord rally in Nairobi, a Solidarity Account for donations towards teachers' pay was unveiled.
However, Jubilee legislators led by nominated MP Johnson Sakaja accused Cord leader Raila Odinga of trying to obtain funds for the 2017 campaigns.
