IN SUMMARY
President John Magufuli receives a message from his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli on Saturday, March 16, 2019 held talks with a special envoy of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at the Magogoni State House in Dar es Salaam.

A press statement released on Saturday, March 16, 2019 says the envoy, Mr Sam Kutesa, who doubles as Ugandan Foreign Affairs minister, delivered a message to President Magufuli from his Ugandan counterpart.

“After presenting him with the letter from President Museveni, Mr Kutesa and President Magufuli held talks on the good and brotherly relations and cooperation between the two countries,” reads part of the statement.

According to the statement, their talks focused on economic relations, especially transportation of cargo to Uganda through Dar es Salaam and Tanga ports.

He said President Magufuli assured him that Tanzania would continue improving infrastructure of cargo transportation to Uganda.

That will be done by revitalising the Central Railway, among the efforts.

“The country is also revamping 400 wagons, 50 of them have been completed. Hopefully, the completion of these measures will enable Uganda businesspeople to transport their cargo without barriers,” reads the statement.

Unajua both Museveni n Kagame were trained in Tanzania. I think they feel more comfortable to get a conflict resolution under superevision of Tanzania!

😳😳😳 Electric Freight Trains with a maximum speed of 80Kmh so the average will be like 60Km/h ... whats the point of going electric??? Watumie tu diesel.

Be kind to bring the evidence by citing the page number! EIA report for SGR TZ is online n doesn't say so!

Our narrow gauge is to move cargo same speed as ur SGR! Does that make any difference?

In other words, are you saying that your electric SGR can't handle the less than 20million tonnes that Dar handles that it has to be helped by a refurbished/revamped MGR to carry cargo to and fro the same direction? Let's not forget that probably more than 25% of cargo remains within Dar bieng the commercial capital, another 10% goes to South Tz with Tazara and trucks....(So thats already 35% of cargo out of the equation) Lets also not forget that not all goods will go via the rail, even in Europe only less than 30%of the cargo moves via rail...... So in your best case scenario a maximum of 60% of whats left of the cargo will go through rail.... And now you are saying the MGR and the SGR will share this little cargo..... good luck
