Yes because our railway line can easily be compared with the best in the world. It is class on chinese standard which means it is superior compared to ethipioa which is class two, and to morrocco which is arema standard but for passengers and can not handle alot of cargo, Tanzania line which can not handle alot of cargo(maximum of 17 million tonnes ). Just for your information China is currently the world leader in Railway technology.Also unlike most of our detractors we are a democracy, that means we are obliged by law to listen to all voices. Kenya has to build super bridges inside all parks(under direction of the court), some stretching as long as 29km long,also the greenfield terrain we are working with is quite rought which means more bridges,unlike tanzania which is just upgrading it's old metre gauge. Also in kenya land is more expensive than most african countries, and since government can not just take your land it means high cost of compensation running into billions of shillings.Kenya's SGR to become most expensive such project in the world

- With public debt almost crossing KSh 5.4 trillion, there are concerns Kenya may not be able to settle the SGR loans
It has emerged Kenya's Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) has now been entered into the books of records as the most expensive such project in the world.
This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga flew to China to secure KSh 368 billion loan to fund the ongoing construction of the SGR.
The new loan is expected to be injected in construction of the Naivasha-Kisumu SGR line and this would inflate the gross amount of loans Nairobi has borrowed from Beijing to about KSh 845 billion.
According to a report by Daily Nation on Wednesday, April 24, it costs the government KSh 800 million to construct each kilometer of the rail, and this makes the project the most expensive in the world.

As I said before the devil is in the detail, the tanzania line is designed to carry a maximum of 17 million tonnes while the kenyan is designed for 25 million tonnes. If you know anything about Rail, it is that cargo is the cash cow. The kenyan line will pay for itself, already it has been ranked among the top ten best rail tours in the world, it has added 1.5% to the kenyan economy, it already operates at full capacity for passengers, it has improved efficiency at the port of mombasa which has reduced inflation in our economy, it has also employed over 5000 kenyans in all categories. In cargo we now have twelve cargo trains, half of them double stack trains daily from mombasa port beating even the expectation of the chinese at this time.In every sense our line is the best in sub sahara africa.Sub-Saharan Africa is on its way to get her first bullet train courtesy of Tanzania and Rwanda

Sub-Saharan Africa is set to get its first bullet train courtesy of Tanzania and Rwanda.
The 571km-long cross-border railway project dubbed the Isaka-Kigali SGR project linking landlocked Rwanda with Tanzania's port at Dar es Salaam will cost US$2.5billion to complete.
In a joint announcement, Rwanda's Minister of Infrastructure Claver Gatete and Tanzania's transportation minister Isack Kamwelwe declared the cost was established by an initial study.

The cost will be split between the two nations with Tanzania forking out US$1.3bn and Rwanda US$1.2bn.
The first 400km from Dar to Dodoma is currently underway and being built by Turkish/Portuguese consortium. The cross-border railway project will enable landlocked Rwanda to access the Dar es Salaam port in Tanzania. The line will also support the transfer of goods from Dar es Salaam port to Burundi and Congo.

The Isaka-Kigali SGR project
The Isaka-Kigali SGR project linking Isaka township in Tanzania with the Rwandan capital, Kigali was initially planned to be powered by diesel before it was switched to electric.
Once complete, it is expected to provide improved railway connectivity and reduce freight transportation costs in the East Africa region.
The two countries are considering various funding options for the project including from the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Tanzania and Rwanda launched the project in January 2018 and the two countries have agreed to expedite the process to implement the Isaka-Kigali Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project.

A case of poor analysis, Loan ya phase 2A includes the construction of a SEZ in Naivasha, loan ya phase 2B to Kisumu includes money for the construction of a 500,000 TEUs modern port in Kisumu + additional trains and wagons....... In comparison to TZ, the cost of constructing the first phase excludes the cost of the locomotives unlike in Kenya where the SGR loan included the cost of the locomotives and wagons.
