Yes but the thing is most of those defending kickbacks on projects r Mumbis n nepotism is the main drive. Go through arguments in here..It is not a Mumbi thing. Kenya has a general corruption problem. If you look at the names mentioned in the SGR land overvaluation investigation you will see that tribe is not the determinant. You can also look at county corruption to get the point. But now we are getting off thread...
Zote Ni sgr. Speed Ni hiyo hiyo.
alikataa china ,the guys who sweat blood and tears for tazara , akawaita wafisadi ati atachukua mkopo wa china na kupea waturuki wajenge SGR
waturuki wenyewe wanajengewa reli na china 😀😀
Look the first time when Chinese were picked to built TAZARA every nation including Kenya sarcastically laughed at the choice some countries like the UK and the US said it was imposible to build a rail track at that terrain! Try to search and see feasibility studies conducted before the Chinese stepped in.alikataa china ,the guys who sweat blood and tears for tazara , akawaita wafisadi ati atachukua mkopo wa china na kupea waturuki wajenge SGR

Turkey New Rail is high speed rail mainly for persenger service (Like the one in Morocco), Kenya Rail is heavy-Duty rail mainly for cargo.. Stop comparing a bus and a lorryLook the first time when Chinese were picked to built TAZARA every nation including Kenya sarcastically laughed at the choice some countries like the UK and the US said it was imposible to build a rail track at that terrain try to search and see feasibility studies conducted before the Chinese stepped in. Thererfore this project is not the first and not the most difficult as the track is not crossing the Southern highlands that chinese did in 1960s.
That consortium Turkish and Portuguese companies has average of 50 years of experience and each has undertaken similar projects of over 5000 km. these numbers don't lie my friend believe me those two Turkish and Portuguese companies won't disappoint since they are vying for the same pie that Chinese companies are eating. My friend we have been there before sit and watch men at work. u should be asking yourself Ankara to Instanbul is around 400km and the Chinese company was paid US$ 1.2 bln while you paid 3 times the amount! Kenyan youths really killed my pride as a youth on being the first to defend that theft!
Ati what with TAZARA? That's a copper rail track can't be that light! Isitoshe was built in 1969..and most important ur argument still can't substantiate the price of that track being 3 times the one in Tanzania n yet unelectrified...Turkey New Rail is high speed rail mainly for persenger service (Like the one in Morocco), Kenya Rail is heavy-Duty rail mainly for cargo.. The most common rail weight is ~49 kg/m with 69% of track, the remainder being of lighter weight rail, except for 150 km of 60 kg/m rail.
Rail transport in Turkey - Wikipedia
Kenya's new rail is 60Kg/m !!!!! that is heavy duty!!! in Comparizon Tazara is 45kg/m.. I dont know what your new SGR will be but it will be less than 60!!!!, Since turkey is the one building it, they will probably build it to their most common standard using lighter rail steel of 49kg/m !!!!!!
I mentioned Tazara just for reference for you to get an ideaAti what with TAZARA? That's a copper rail track can't be that light! Isitoshe was built in 1969..and most important ur argument still can't substantiate the price of that track being 3 times the one in Tanzania n yet unelectrified...
How do u compare a railtrack of over 40 years old to a track built this year launched last week. Is this all desperation ama? Man up as that's a Cape gauge width btn narrow n SGR !...I mentioned Tazara just for reference for you to get an idea
The total length of the track was 2,060 km with the mainline being 1,860 km from Dar-es-Salaam to Kapiri-Mposhi. The portion of the track in Zambia runs from Nakonde to Kapiri-Mposhi for a total distance of 860 km. The minimum radius was 300m except between Mlimba and Makambako in Tanzania where it was 200m and between Makambako and Chozi where it was 250m. The track consists of 12.5m rails of 45 kg/m, joined with 6 hole fishplates forming a suspended joint, and uniblock concrete sleepers of 191 kg weight. The density of the sleepers was 1520 per km and stone ballast of size 25mm to 70mm was used. Zambian Economist: State of Railway Infrastructure in Zambia
You are loosing your ground, sijui unajifanya hauwelewi ama, Just forget about Tazara reference then..How do u compare a railtrack of over 40 years old to a track built this year launched last week. Is this all desperation ama? Man up as that's a Cape gauge width btn narrow n SGR !...
Tanzania's railtrack capacity is 24 mln tonnes per year. And that of Kenya believe me is not more than 30 mln tonnes..keep being lied! You are loosing your ground, sijui unajifanya hauwelewi ama, Just forget about Tazara reference then..
Most common rail weight in turkey including the ankara-istanbul line is 49kg/m, It is safe to assume turkey will build you their most common rail steel, given that your new SGR will be designed for maximum 18 tonnes a year... Whille on the other hand Kenya rail steel weight is heavier at 60kg/m and maximum tonnage of 35Million tonnes per year... So wacha kujilinganisha cheap lighter rail na expensive heavy-duty rail
I guess mota engil are the ones that did the light rail for dubai and they did a serious job, but it extremely expensive, why aren't people also complaining about nigeria sgr which is much expensive than our and of lesser design standa rds especially the stations?Look the first time when Chinese were picked to built TAZARA every nation including Kenya sarcastically laughed at the choice some countries like the UK and the US said it was imposible to build a rail track at that terrain! All this discussion about tonnage is okay, but should not be our main focus. The more important issue is how many of those tonnes will be exports rather than imports. No East African country can honestly say they have made serious efforts towards industrialization such that a modern railway is the only missing link. If we don't turn around our economies soon all those millions of tons we seem all so proud about will be Chinese and Indian imports. Don't forget this railway is a means to an end.Ati what with TAZARA? That's a copper rail track can't be that light! Umelazimishwa kuchangia? Na mbona kuna threads nyingi humu ndani?I agree with what Sean Marcus said. These threads about SGR/Kenya-Tanzania comparison are becoming too much and it is not like any of us here is a government minister so we're making too much noise for nothing!
