Cost comparison SGR Kenya vs SGR Tanzania

Completion of SGR won't be a magic bullet to congestion at the port. You cannot tell me that shida ya Dar port ni ukosefu wa malori ya kuhamisha mizigo, au msongamano mrefu wa malori kuingia na kutoka bandarini kiasi cha kuchelewesha mizigo yote ya bandarini!

Its hard to choose which is the best SGR station in East Africa.
The battle is simply between SGR Mombasa terminus and SGR Nairobi terminus.

MY TAKE
  • 1 km of SGR in another countries in Africa $5-7 mln while in Tanzania is $3.5 mln!
  • Operating costs for diesel SGR is 3 times electrical SGR in general!
  • Tanzania's SGR is way more superior in tonnage capacity to be haulage than other SGR in Africa!
  • Tanzania SGR is faster (120km/h cargo n 160 km/h PAX) than other SGR than other SGRs around Africa (80 km/h cargo n 120 km/h PAX)! AND the speed can be increased to 250 km/h at no cost!
  • Mwanza city to be a logistic hub in the great lakes region, a massive inland depot (the largest in East and central Africa) is to be constructed at Fela in Mwanza city!
