DAR ES SALAAM, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has signed a contract with Chinese state-run CRRC International Co., Ltd. (CRRC) to procure 1,430 wagons that will be deployed on the standard gauge railway (SGR) line.

The contract, worth 127.26 million U.S. dollars, was signed Tuesday by TRC director-general Masanja Kadogosa and CRRC International assistant general manager Tang Yunpeng in Dar es Salaam, the commercial capital of Tanzania, said a statement issued by TRC.

Kadogosa said in the statement that the 12-month contract will include the design, production and delivery of the 1,430 wagons for transporting various types of cargo.

The wagons will be delivered to Dar es Salaam by early February 2023 after completion of the second lot construction of the 422 km Morogoro-Makutopora stretch that will be joined with the 341 km Dar es Salaam-Morogoro section whose construction has reached 95 percent.

For his part, Tang said CRRC International was confident to deliver the best wagons for the SGR project within the agreed period.


Tanzania is currently constructing a 1,637 km SGR line from the major port of Dar es Salaam to Mwanza in northern Tanzania, which will be connected to landlocked countries of Burundi, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to facilitate transportation of cargo to these landlocked countries.

Alafu kuna part hapo inasema "The wagons will be delivered to Dar es Salaam by early February 2023 " Does this mean inatulazimu tungoje hadi mwaka ujao mwezi kamaa huu ndo tuanze kuona electrical esjiara ya Tanzania ikibeba mizigo? Duh!

Reli inajengwa kulingana na functional requirement... Overpass, underpass... blah blah blah zinajengwa na sababu yake, usifikirie JPM aliketi chini na kuamuru kwamba sehemu ile nataka cable stayed bridge just because..... La hasha, Cable stayed bridge ilichaguliwa na sababu yake, sehemu ile ilihitaji long viaducts bila pillars nyingi on th ground and as such engineers wakaamua kureinforce na cables on top.... Kwahivyo usifikirie walijenga tu ili wakufurahishe wewe unaposema hakuna kama hio EA&Central Africa....

Hata sisi tunavyo viwango vyengine ambavyo havipatikani Africa, Lakini viwango hivyo havikuekwa tu ili tujigambe, viliekwa na sababu zake muhimu na za kivyake ndo mana ikalazimu tutumie technologia za kivyake ..

Kwahivyo kesho nisikupate kwa forum ya Uganda ukijigamba eti reli yenu iko na tunnels wakati yao haina ata moja.... Kama hawana milima basi hakuna haja ya tunnels... Vile vile kama hakuna mahali kunahitaji fewer pillars kwa ground basi hakuna haja ya cable stayed bridges...

kwahiyo unataka kusema hamna bridge nyingine ingefaa? mbona Kawawa na Mandela roads kuna barabara za upana huo na wameweka bridges tofauti? That's a marvelous iconic design on top of the necesity, other structures could have worked too! BTW do u know how many overpasses and underpasses have been built through the whole track length of 300 km! I bet SGR Kunyaland has that many overpasses and underpasses! Prove me wrong!

1: Yerpi Merkezi- Kichwa kimoja cha majaribio cha mfumo wa umeme cha mkandarasi.
2: TRC - Vichwa viwili vya umeme pamoja na mabehewa 27 ya Ghorofa yaliyonunuliwa toka kampuni ya reli ya taifa ya Ujerumani, Deustche Bahn (DB) hii ni order yetu ya awali kabisa kabla ya zile order nyingine toka South Korea na ya juzi ya China .
