Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on December 30 that it had won a feasibility study service for the Tanzania Railway Education Center construction project ordered by the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

This project is a service to confirm the feasibility of establishing a railway operator training institute to complete the 1,219km central line railway construction project, which is being promoted by the Tanzanian government on the largest scale in East Africa.

KORAIL, the organizer of the consortium, plans to conduct a feasibility study for about 7 months from January 2022.

KORAIL decided to take this service as an opportunity to introduce Korea's railroad technology, and to present an educational system and educational content development direction tailored to the current situation of railroads in Tanzania.

"We will do our best so that KORAIL's world-class railroad talent development center operation know-how and railroad education contents can serve as a cornerstone for nurturing train talents in Tanzania," said Park Tae-hoon, head of KORAIL's overseas business division.

Meanwhile, KORAIL is successfully carrying out the "Tanzania Central Line Railway Construction Supervision Project", which it won in 2017.

“This is an opportunity for KORAIL to pass on advanced railroad education to the African continent beyond Asia,” said KORAIL CEO Na Hee-seung.
