Ethiopia, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya and Chad are among the top 10 refugee friendly countries across the world, according to Amnesty International.

The five African countries alone account for 2,559,700 refugees.

The global rights group in its latest report on the refugee crisis found that the five African countries together with Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey were accommodating over 50% of global refugees.

Some facts worth noting

• 21.3 million people are living as refugees
• 1.2 million are in urgent need of resettlement
  86% of refugees are hosted by low middle income countries
• Jordan is the most refugee friendly with over 2.7 million refugees
• Turkey follows with over 2.5 million refugees
  Pakistan had 1.6 million refugees
• Lebanon is home to over a million and half refugees
• Iran has 979,400 refugees

With respect to Africa, Ethiopia is in the lead (736,000), Kenya (553,900), Uganda (477,200), DRC (383,100) and Chad (369,500).
