Uganda to sign financial agreement for the Kisumu-Malaba SGR
 
Plans to connect the East African region through railway networks, such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) seem to be moving in the right direction. This is after Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni agreed to the signing of the final financial deal for the Kisumu-Malaba-Kampala part of the Standard Gauge Railway.
Uganda, who has delayed the signing of the financing agreement for the SGR for more than two years, announced that it will sign the final financing agreement by September this year after a meeting with Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta and the Chinese officials.
Kenya, on the other hand, has already begun laying tracks for the US $1.5 bn phase of the SGR line between Nairobi and Naivasha as it awaits on Uganda to secure joint funding for the Kisumu-Malaba stretch.

Joint mission
President Yoweri Museveni also asked for a joint mission with Kenya to Beijing to to meet China’s Export and Import ,EXIM bank officials to expedite the financial closure for the two countries’ multi billion-dollar projects.
In Kenya, more than one million passengers have used the SGR line in one year and more than 800,000 tonnes of cargo have been transported since the cargo segment of the railway was started in January this year.
Once the railway line to Malaba is constructed, Uganda and Kenya are bound to have GDP growth of at least 1.5%, drastically reduced number of heavy trucks on roads, a fast, efficient and reliable mode of transportation along with many other benefits from the construction of the Naivasha-Kisumu-Malaba Standard Gauge Railway.

I am pretty sure no financing will be signed! If that was to be the case there would have not been any better place to pen down agreement than in Kigali during Xi Jinping's visit. Pole jirani, n smell the coffee ! But self-consolation is accepted n allowed! 😛

I wonder how you guys r still spending alot of money for the same mistake that you've done to nbo mombasa phase! !
Remember Tz is constructing 205km of sgr from Dar to Morogoro and will be using electric train just for $1.2bln

Your naysayings have failed flat here! Land compensations has been on going on Malaba-Kampala sgr route, no turning back for Uganda. Besides SGR is infrastructural upgrade for transport, all of Africa is likely to have it in the near future.,
I am waiting for yours to be finished na "pesa zenyu wenyewe"(mkopo chini ya maji).

These so called agreements have been signed since 2013. So many "agreements", "state visits" "Joint commitees" etc. All these are just paper.
Museveni is very clear
1) He wants an electric train
2)He wants kenya to first get the rail to malaba before he commits
3)He is shocked by yapi merkezi 1.2b price for 700km aganist kenya's CRBC 3.5b for a mere 470 km. He does not want to be conned
Any other meeting or agreememts that dont address these 3 partinent issues are just tea parties and waste of time

Don't get ulcers for a project that is already running. Yours is electric on paper with the Dangagiza that has generators roaring on a daily basis, We can only pray for you.

Looking at the way these black cats are allover!!!! Very funny... Tihihihi

Tanzanian guys should consult Ugandan news or pay a visit wajionee kazi na mipango ya Malaba Kampala SGR route. They have secured land through compensations, kumekua na fujo ya raiya kusema wameporoa., watu wanahama etc.,
Uganda is not Tanzania on EAC development.
