Seeking Tanzanian investors to purchase an operational and profitable biodiesel business in Dar es Salaam. I am an attorney in New York who designed, managed, and funded the construction of the refinery.
The business collects used cooking oil from in and around Dar, from restaurants, hotels, and other kitchens. The used cooking oil is converted into biodiesel at the refinery, and sold to local construction companies (for their machinery) or to buildings for their diesel generators. Biodiesel can be used in any vehicle or machine that accepts regular (petroleum diesel).
The investor(s) will receive 100% of shares in a Tanzanian company limited by shares, which in turn owns all of the refinery machinery and equipment. The business leases its space.
Day-to-day business operations are managed by an onsite refinery manager, a Tanzanian who recently returned to Dar.
The business is collecting approx. 1,000 liters of used cooking oil per week, which converts into 1,000 liters of biodiesel per week. The current price of diesel in Dar is about Tsh 2,000 per liter.
The refinery is operating at less than 20% of full capacity. There is enormous potential for growth and profit for a patient and dedicated new owner.
Asking price is US$250,000 for 100% ownership. Willing to sell in smaller shares (e.g., $2,500 per share) if enough investors are interested. Contact me at ap@mafutasasa.com for details/financials.
