Hello JF members! Today I have decided to post the thread on dead bodies as a useful resources in medical field. A dead human body is a valuable resource. Many of its parts can be used to the living.Eye corneas can be transplanted to give sight to the blind.Kidneys can be used to give years of vigorous life to people who have kidney disease. Human skin is the best dressing for wounds of burn victims.Bones can be used for grafting. Pituitary glands are desperately needed to make it possible for some people to grow normally. In some parts of the world I.E China,America and France undiseased blood from dead bodies used for transfusions (secretly).Even jaws are sometimes used to train dentists.Currently, there is the plan of Uniform Donor Card to use dead body.Isn't this medical technology useful in Tanzania?

Just my curiosity, if your relative die because you have identified that dead bodies are resourcefully would you then willingly give it so as to be used to donate to the people who are in need?

Mkuu Gandagumu,
With my several years of practise in Tanzania, i havent yet experienced a case in that..however beyond homeland borders, so i have experienced!

Personally, i think there's more of emotional connection between the deceased and bereaved!Things like last respect, has alot of implication in this matter.

Also, stigmatization..how many of us(say JF members) will have that courage to stand knowing few people hknow that they have organs of deceased?
