Dodoma the future modern capital city in East Africa

Dodoma the future modern capital city in East Africa

Mji mzee wamaanisha nini?
London is almost 2000 years old. New York is 400 years.
The older the city the better.

Na mimi naongea na statistics. Wewe waongea wishful thinking.

Plus Nairobi is not just the CBD. Actually CBD kumejaa.
Nairobi metro is big and grand and growing like crazy.
Ukuelewa kitu kumbe, Moshi na nairobi ilianza pamoja usimix topics hapa, unataja London na newyork zinahusiana nn apa?
Sikua nazungumzia uzee wa mji wenu lahasha, Nairobi unaioverrate sana, fuatilia na miji mingine sio unajichimbia apo kwenu tu ukahisi pengine Hamna miji..

My take;kama kiswahili uelewi Au huwez we andika lugha ya malkia tu tutaenda sawa, maana naandika hivi unatafsiri tofauti!!

Ati Dar?
Nilisema Nairobi consumes almost as much as the whole of Tanzania.
Sijapata ripoti inayo single out Nairobi pekee, but if Nairobi contributes 60% of the GDP, it can be assumed that cement consumption is also around that range.
So, if Nairobi consumes about half of Kenya's cement, it consumes nearly as much as the whole of Tanzania.
Huko ni kupotoka. Kwa kuwa Dar inatoa 80% ya Domestic Revenue, basi ndo tuseme inazidi Kenya yote? Illogical thinking!

Kama Tanzania ingekuwa na GDP kubwa kuliko Kenya, na Dar inaproduce 80%, then it would have made perfect sense.
It's the same way Nigerians always remind smaller countries that the GDP of Lagos is bigger than their country.

I suppose yes afa EAC is concerned, could u count on issues that remains at a junction waiting 4 tz to decide!, where is COW? , the federation agenda!?, the common market thing

Those things you're mentioning are ongoing, at various phases. Si mambo ya kuonekana na mwaka mmoja.
And Kenya has learnt its lesson. Tanzania is not willing to co-operate in EAC. You have one foot in SADC and the other in EAC.
So, nothing remains at the junction waiting for you to decide. Unless we're forced to by external factors like the deal with EU.
Otherwise, Kenya decided long ago to move on with alliances the other countries want. That's why we've invested billions in the road to Ethiopia, and billions in the SGR with Uganda, and more billions in Lapsett. So far we've spent very little to enhance trade between Kenya and Tanzania.
Kama Tanzania mmeamua Sadc, ni haki yenu. But don't for a moment think that things will stop waiting for you to make a decision.

Tanzania has the biggest landmass, population, resources etc......save for the economy. Had it had its economic policies right from the onset....by that I mean immediately after attaining its independence, the country today would have long attained that "superpower" status it so badly wants to grab from Kenya. Infact, it is the country with the most
Potential develop.
The success of Kenya in economy is the result of triumph of capitalism after the cold war, and the so called wrong policy of Tanzania right from the onset was caused by the failure of the Soviet Union. It all boils down to "lucky".

Dodoma will be the biggest capital city in East Africa...?
There's nothing wrong with wishful thinking. As they say, if they were horses, even beggars would ride.
I just don't understand what this thread is doing in the Kenyan section. You clearly were looking for an argument with Kenyans.
So if I may, Dodoma nor any Tanzanian town will never be EA capital. You have been the biggest hindrances to moving forward as a community and you expect things to be handed to you once you change your mind?
The best thing you can get is a headquarters. i.e. a building somewhere in Arusha to accommodate the Presidents when they want to meet for a cup of tea, or some parliament no one cares about. Thereby giving you the illusion of power.

While I don't believe we'll get to a point of having a full political capital for the whole block like Washington is to the US, the economic capital will now and for many years to come be Nairobi.

From some estimates, Nairobi contributes 60% of Kenya's GDP. That's almost the same as the entire GDP of Tanzania.
It is growing faster than any city north of Limpopo.
I've not heard any multi-national set up in Dar or Dodoma. In Kenya, one multi-national leaves, 3 come in.
The kind of highways being put up in Nairobi have never been seen in Tanzania.
Nairobi alone consumes nearly as much cement as the whole of Tanzania.

You're increasing production but consumption is not growing at a similar rate.
Your cement per capita (Cement per person) is 50kg. Kenya's is 100kg.

How is Dodoma then going to be the biggest capital in East Africa.
I don't even think it will be bigger than Isiolo in 20 years.

Cement per Person - Source, Source
Blah blah blah, nothing goes on anywhere besides Nairobi, we all know that.

The success of Kenya in economy is the result of triumph of capitalism after the cold war, and the so called wrong policy of Tanzania right from the onset was caused by the failure of the Soviet Union. It all boils down to "lucky".

1993 Kenya and TZ GDPs were almost equal. In 2002 the gap was $2 billion.
Right now the gap is $20 billion.

Why are you blaming the Soviet Union which collapsed in 1991.

I don't see where luck comes into play.

KICC
Teleposta
NSSF
Nyayo House

Reinsurance .. among others in most major towns.

They were tall for their days, but trust me, if the Kenyan government was building them today, they would build them much taller.
