NYERI COUNTY: TNA MPs have started evoking President Uhuru Kenyatta’s name in the ongoing campaigns in Othaya, with a warning to voters that they risked embarrassing him if they fail to re-elect Mary Wambui.

The MPs Peris Tobiko (Kajiado East), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Mburu Kahangara (Lari), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and immediate former Othaya MP Wambui said Uhuru was keenly observing the campaigns and was hopeful that his party would recapture the seat.

INCOMPLETE TERM

Speaking during campaigns at Kihuri and Munyange, the leaders said it would be an embarrassment for President Kenyatta and the entire Jubilee Government, if TNA lost in its stronghold.

Ngunjiri said Wambui had proved to be an honest, hardworking and caring leader. “Know that the President sent us to come and tell you that he wants Wambui back in Parliament,” said Ngunjiri.

Ichung’wa warned that a loss for TNA in the April 29 by-election would mean a loss for Uhuru.

Tobiko said the upcoming by-election had taken Othaya and the entire country backwards because funds used could have been spent in other development projects. “In Kajiado, we were all in ODM, but moved to TNA. Failing to elect Wambui is like aborting a pregnancy, since you elected her and she did not complete her five-year term,” she said.

Ng’ang’a said Othaya would only develop if they re-elect Wambui.
She claimed that President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have authorised MPs in the Jubilee to ensure the party recaptures the seat that fell vacant after the Court of Appeal nullified Wambui’s election in last year’s polls.

“Also note that Jubilee Government has only three parties; TNA, URP and Narc. Any other party claiming support for Jubilee is as good as an opposing side,” she said.

Nairobi businessman, Stanley Livondo warned that Othaya risked being ranked as an Opposition constituency if they failed to re-elect Wambui. He said the CORD coalition was using small parties to establish roots in Central Kenya.

On the contrary, it will be an embarassment if the people of Othaya elected this semi-illeterate drug dealer back to the
August House...Imagine cohabiting with the likes of 'Money-bags' Livondo...wow!...that shows you that birds of a feather
kweli flock together.

God save Othaya!

the courts working at the behest of cord are still looking for an entry point in Central.

Sh!t ain't about CORD or Jubilee on this one. This is about the people of Othaya and the
choice they have to make.

Minister heckled at Othaya rally

[h=3]In Summary[/h]
  • Cabinet Secretary found himself in trouble when he tried to campaign for one of the parties in next week's by-election
  • Hospital project a key campaign subject for two main candidates.

A Cabinet Secretary was Tuesday jeered by the public during a function in Othaya Town as he tried to campaign for a candidate in next week's by-election in the constituency.

Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia found himself in unfamiliar grounds when his calls for "giving credit where it deserves" were perceived by some residents as validating one of the candidates.

Mr Macharia had stated that Othaya residents should give credit to people who have played a key role in ensuring that Othaya District Hospital is up and running.

Give credit

"I came here to confirm to you this message because the President is behind us; let's give credit to people who have done this work so far," he said. "The first Sh300 million, which was a grant by the Japanese government, came about as a result of Mary Wambui's efforts."

The hospital project has been a key campaign subject for two main candidates - Ms Wambui of The National Alliance and Democratic Party's Peter King'ara.

"That is a fact, and as I told you, I came here to talk about the facts which must be said. Let's deal with facts first, politicians will do their part later," Mr Macharia said at Othaya Approved School Grounds after touring Othaya District Hospital whose construction has stalled.

Emotions ran high during the event attended by both candidates.

Trouble started when a Member of the County Assembly, who took the podium, was perceived to be against one of the candidates.

A political arena

It took the intervention of Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua to calm down some youths who became unruly and started heckling the MCA.

Mr Gachagua called for peaceful campaigns. "Let's not use this event as a political arena," he urged.

Ms Wambui and Mr King'ara urged their supporters to maintain peace.

Mr King'ara said Othaya residents must get a good hospital in accordance with the wishes of retired President Kibaki - the longest-serving area MP.

"I know what is coming in a week's time, but I would wish all of us can observe this moment to commend our President for what he has done.

'‘As you are aware, I have been agitating for the resurrection of this hospital, which has been dormant for the past one year," he said.

He went on: "I have been campaigning and I will still campaign on this platform that we must get a good hospital in accordance with the wishes of our former President and our former MP Mwai Kibaki, who served us well for the past 40 years."

Nyeri County Commissioner Michael Mwangi called for peaceful campaigns and assured residents of adequate security during the April 29 by-election.

bint yangu I read desperation in your replies! self evaluation is needed on your part to actually understand that we are in a democracy where every one that wants to express themselves freely on social media and other media. Mimi nimezoea kutusiwa kama ulilelewa vizuri you should be complaining less and move along with the democracy and be contented with what you have. but the fact you are here complaining while your people are more clever. I am a man not a women to gossip kama nilipata malezi mazuri bora au vipi fyi I will give you a challenge just make sure you do not die! my thinking is broadened so not narrow the thinking you are forcing men to be in the forum.

going forward nobody should be speaking about entrenching a sisterhood anywhere

there is a saying in Kikuyu concerning a mans brain and his underpants. I hope you are not one of those that fall into this category.
