There is a possibility the issue of dual citizenship and Kadhi Court, which had been thrown out earlier, will go back to the Constituent Assembly (CA) for further discussions.
Reports say that the majority of the MCAs who got the chance to air views during the committee meetings, raised the two issues.
The demand to include the Kadhi Court in the new Constitution appeared to divide MCAs. Presenting her opinion in some of the committee meetings, Dr Ave-Maria Semakafu said religious issues ought to be separated from government matters, noting that the right to worship was more of a private rather that a public affair.
"Every religious institution has its own rules and regulations governing its operations…," she said.
MCA Hamis Ali Togwa maintained that Kadhi Court was a Katiba issue and should be included in the constitution under Section 32.
Dr Zainabu Gama backed dual citizenship, saying allowing it would facilitate employment for Tanzanian youth abroad, since those studying there fail to get jobs because vacancies are only for citizens of their adopted countries.
As they are deemed foin foreign countries given a condition requiring them to be citizens of particular countries for them to secure jobs.
Another CA member, Hamis Ali Togwa maintained that Kadhi Court was a constitutional matter, saying it should be included in the constitution under section 32, stating on the rights to worship.
Mr Togwa downplayed the argument that every religious institution has its own judicial system and that allowing establishment of Kadhi Court would fuel other institutions to demand for the establishment of their own courts, saying that nobody restricted other religious institutions from demanding for their courts.
