Mbunge wa Jimbo la Muleba, Charles Mwijage, amedai kuwa serikali haijachukua hatua za kutosha kuweka mazingira yanayotosheleza kuendeleza soko la samaki nchini Tanzania. Akielezea masikitiko yake, Mwijage amesema sekta hiyo imekuwa chanzo cha aibu kwa taifa, kwani Tanzania haijaingia katika orodha ya nchi zinazofanya ufugaji wa samaki barani Afrika, licha ya rasilimali ya maji mengi inayopatikana nchini.

Mwijage ametoa kauli hiyo tarehe 4 Novemba 2024 bungeni jijini Dodoma, wakati akichangia mapendekezo ya Mpango wa Maendeleo wa Taifa kwa mwaka 2025/2026.

“Hatujafanya lolote, hatujatumia maji yetu, hakuna chochote kimefanyika, tunachezea maji,” amesisitiza Mwijage.

Ameeleza kuwa wakati nchi nyingine za Afrika kama Morocco na Misri zinafaidika na sekta hiyo kwa mapato makubwa, Tanzania bado ipo nyuma. “Morocco wanapata Dola Bilioni Moja kutokana na samaki. Misri anatuongoza,” ameongeza kwa kuonesha wasiwasi wake.
