English Language 101 CLUB

English Language 101 CLUB

Tip from Liam (from Internet)
When to use Me too/ Me either

“The difference between ‘me too’ and ‘me either’ is that one is positive, and the other one is negative. The positive one is ‘me too’, so for example, if you say ‘I like traveling’ then I would say ‘me too’ which means ‘I like traveling too.’

On the other hand, if you say ‘I don’t like extreme sports’ then, if I agree with you, I would say ‘me either’ which means ‘I don’t like extreme sports either.’ Not too, either.

Often have I read this statement in employers Job descriptions for various posts. And I find it self- contradictory to their policy of "equal opportunity employer" It reads like this:

Company xxxx is an equal opportunity employer, however women are particularly encouraged to apply.

What does it mean? Share your thoughts.

The reason behind is that, most employers do think that women are in a certain manner (unknown) getting discouraged whenever they are about to apply for a certain post.

To keep it short and concise, the women have been treated as a disadvantaged group that can not stand for itself without help, that 's why instead of letting them fight for themselves there are those illicit campaigns about 50/50 and blah blah 😂

Any person who has something to share can lead us. There is nothing that resembles 'hierarchy' here.

To encourage a targeted group to apply, does not mean that group only will be employed.
It's an effort to give all people the chance especially if there is a trend of receiving many applications from males.

An equal opportunity employer don't discriminate against any employee or job applicant because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, physical or mental disability, or age.

I want how to join

I've been studying English practically my whole life, but I still don't feel completely confident about my level. I guess constant practice is the only thing that'll help me get rid of that feeling. Besides talking to different people and working with a tutor, I also study on my own with Promova, which has a lot of online courses and cool tools for self-learning. When I have some free time, I log in and practice.
