...........Ouh ooh, be blessed mama wawii for this thread. I have a bit different request but it falls within the same category of (interactive) language. I can speak relatively fluent english but i really like to have european or american accent. Street guys call it "yai". Is there anywhere I can learn this either theoretically or practically? Help pls

just learn like a child grown up in an English society, they dont lean voc until primary school
guess what wanasikiliza wazazi wanapoongea at yhe end booomb nao wanaongea very fluent utadhani wameenda darasani
learn to listen hasa english tv stations na radio and speak up
Thanks dear Shansarie!Wish to be like you one day,am trying to apply different approach and now I see the difference as I see myself improving day by day though with slow speed.

.................myself am not good at all.................... instead of iam myself.............. good trial my friends. am also interested in making some improvements

Its ok mkuu imekuja. thanx much let me practice

Its Ok is not equal to " It's ok " or "It is Ok"
"Its" is used to show possession for non human/non-living things and not as a short term for "It is".
thanx is not equal to "Thanks" especially when you are learning. Please avoid using the abbreviations you use in mobile sms with your friends,be surprised not if you find someone in an official communication has used those abbreviations. It is not a good practice.
"Perfect practice make perfect"

Sijui kwenye English napo aje mzee kifimbo cheza?

Thanks dear friend for the different ways/methods to apply when learning English you have shared. Method one and two are easy to apply but they didn't give the good results to me as you can see am still struggling. I am trying to use method 3(communicative method) by writing, talking and interacting with others who use English as means of communication but I think combination of all method is the best thing.
Hi
Mama Wawili,be careful with singular and plural I see you have made some mistakes

1.Method one and two are easy to apply.....Methods one and two are...(you did not put "s" to show there was more than one method besides the word "are" shows plural form but why did you write method and not methods?

2.The word "all..." usually express more than one thing so it is not correct to say "all method" instead you could have said "all methods"("s" has been added to show plural)

3.How do you feel when you say "all methods" and "all the methods" especial when the word "methods" you are mentioning it for the second time?Does it ring a bell?
Thanks
Aqua

Thanks Aqua for the corrections!I have noted them,be blessed

i need you help please!!! i want to to know on the uses of the words could and should!!
Hello Josephina!

Should and could are modal verbs that “help” other verbs carry meaning by expressing modality. When modal auxiliary verbs stand, alone they do not carry any meaning.

Back to your question. The modal should is mainly used to:
· Give advice or make recommendations.
· Express obligation.
· When we talk about probability and expectation.
· Express the conditional mood.

We use the modal could to:
· To express an ability in the past.
· To express past or future permission.
· To express present possibility.
· To express possibility or ability in contingent circumstances.

Ha ha ha ha ha you made my day!Am struggling to be fluent in English, you are struggling to have European/American accent!

Hello mama Wawili!
I have been inspired with your thread. There are few tips I would like to share with you on speaking and pronunciation of English language and here it goes:
To acquire proper modulation of pitch (accent) in pronouncing syllables in a language one needs to be exposed to people who use that desired accent. By now there two major dialect of English language tha t supersede others, that is, American dialect and British dialect, the preponderate being American dialect. Accent is found within a dialect.

Therefore, for you to acquire either of the above said dialects, you ought to familiarise yourself with the phonetism of the dialects. In understanding the phonology of either of the dialects, you have to possess if not owning a dictionary designated for learners (Advanced English Oxford Dictionary the recent edition is recommended) from which you will learn the proper pronunciation of vocabulary.
Taking American dialect, inasmuch as many speakers long for, it gradually slips away from British in the following ways:
>Rhotic pronunciation. When letter 'r' is subsquent to a vowel, its sound shall be heard in pronunciation, forinstance; power, star, summer, upper to mention only a few.
>When letter 't' is imediate to a vowel it is pronounced as soft 'd', e.g, water, meeting, title, to, etc.
Moreover the rhythm of tone/pitch also differs. Bear in mind that English is a rhythmic language. Pronouncing, for example, this clause 'am reading an English thread' will sound, if pronounced properly, as one singing.
Still to come........
