English learning thread

Hello mama Wawili to improve your writing skill when writing, check to make sure your English words are not red underlined showing someting is wrong with the spelling. For the red underlined word when you right click it you will be give option to choose the word you intended to write.
Eg from your above the following words are not properly written:
registerd, concetrating, unfortunaterly .You liked my post on 'be precise' but in this article of yours you have not done proofreading .
About the radio and TV presenters when listening to them relax it is not necessary to understand everything, just listen to them for the sake of understanding the contents(what they are talking about). There are a lot to learn when listening to someone, pronounciation ,tenses, how to make sentence, adverbs and adjective etc.
Also in writing be careful about England and American english
eg. neighbor(American),neighbour (England),I suggest you learn England English and not American although when typing om MS word it may be red underlined not because it is wrong it is because the program is using American English.

Hi every one!Happy new year
I am doing fine, hope everyone is doing fine too. I was silent for a long time because I was much occupied with the end of year activities.
Now am back, with new year resolution that, I have to work hard on everything with new approach and strategies , never get tired and I will not fear to try anything good and afraid to fail, I believe 2013 is my year and a start point to reach my dreams.
I have so many plan and things to do this year but I have decided to select few of them based on their implementation approach and priority.
I pray to God to give me and my family good health, peace and love. Protect us against all evil, diseases, accidents and any disaster.

Well noted,welcome back

....kutumia Lugha ya Kiingereza.

... ambayo kwangu ni Mtihani katika

...anaweza kuwa ni Mwalimu naomba niwe ...

... ndio njia pekee naweza tambua

... wataoweza nisaidia

How did u know her age?a girl can have babies even at 14 and who said to know english u must know Swahili?i dont think so.
These are just languages to know or not to know them is not a sin,we are just using all the opportunities we have.BTW this thread is for english learning not Swahili, the best thing u can do is to correct not to discourage us. Good luck mwalim wa kiswahili.

Good luck mwalim wa kiswahili.
Vipi tena, mbona unaandika Kiswahili na wewe? Tena Kiswahili chenyewe kibovu! Hivi nyinyi mmetoka wapi huko ambako hawajui hata Kiswahili, Lilongwe?

Hello Bu’yaka
Thanks a lot for your opinion, suggestions and observation you have from my thread.
The aim of the thread is to seek assistance in improving English language from other JF members, I know and believe that, here we have people of different knowledge and expertise; they give a free advice and recommendation without hesitation with the aim of correcting each other.I take your observation and recommendation positively as I know people use different approach to teach someone! I am glad you have noted the poor Kiswahili I have used into my sentences and correct it. Mind you education has no end, it doesn’t matter how old I am and how many children I have, I will continue to learn new things everyday (including what you have suggested).thanks

Nipo tayari kukusaidia kwani nami nitakuwa najifunza...

I am definitely moved by your advice; Very few people could take their time educating and giving constructive advice to the needy. Personaly, however, i would like to thank you for the tips, they are really useful to my career development and language management.

Hello Leh,
How are you? Hope you everything is ok with the will of God. Honestly let me tell you the truth about the assignment you gave me about downloading the calibre-e book program, I tried to download it unfortunately I didn't manage that day due to poor internet signals. Poor me, I didn't try it again until last week when I read one of your comment (in English learning thread) giving the same advice about the downloading the program, I felt bad and see myself not serious with my program. I downloaded the program to my surprise the program is user friend and very easy use to it, because there is a demonstration on how to use it. I have managed to store five books those you wrote in one of your comments.
I have decided to start reading the book titled Twilight ,I was interested to start with it based on you information that it have its move series as watching movies(series) is one of my favorites, I am thinking of finding them when I finish reading the book.
So far I have read 4 chapters, the story is very interesting .I will write to you give you short story about it, thank you very much.
Be blessed
Mama Wawili

Suggestion -is something that is suggested,a propasal, plan, recomendation, the creation of a belief or impulse in the mind.
Observation-is the act of noticingor watching.
Thanks

Hello mama Wawili, first I would like to congratulate you on your improvements.I see big improvement in you because I was around when you started seeking for help.Keep it.
Besides your mistakes have changed to something that not all people can notice it easily.I would like to remind you on some issues as far as language ,communication and writing skill are concerned.
You still have some problem in capitalization though not much refer my previous posts, after a full stop(.) the next letter or word should start with a capital letter. Now it is difficult for me to notice your mistakes this shows that you are improving.
Check the red highlighted above I will explain one by one as follows:
1.one of your comment is not correct, you should have written one of your comments(add "s").When you say one of your.... this shows that there is more than one of that ...so you should put a plural form eg. one of you students, one of your boys, one of your books.
2.about the downloading the program is not correct you should have written "about downloading the program"("the" after about has been omitted) or "about the download/downloads"( the download refer to a program/file that you were supposed to download).
3.
I felt bad and see myself not serious with my program this statement you translated it from swahili directly (nilijisikia vibaya na kujiona..), stop direct translation. You could have written "I felt bad and not serious with my program."This is one option the way I see it.
4.
very easy use to it this should be "very easy to use it" you interchanged words.
5.
it have is incorrect refer the possessive case topic I posted early.I,they, you use have to show possession,it,he,she use has to show possession.
I have no money,they have no transport.She has a house,he has a bicycle,it has a long tail.
6.So far I have read 4 chapters:here you have not made any mistake though in writing skills we are advised not to mix words with numbers thus you could have written 'so far I have read four chapters".Please members feel free to correct me whenever you think I am wrong cause I am also learning.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Hello my dear friends.
I need your help, when I was reading a certain novel I come across with few sentences with 'had had',or 'has had',e.g I had had lunch,or I have had lunch.I am confused! where and when to use had had or have had in a sentence?
