historically, kenya has played a crucial role in promoting Africa's peace process, given the fact it was not in SADC but managed to create the environment where negotiations can be done...the war was escalated when SADC frontline states decided to settle for arms to deal with the mozambican civil war and most of the 'liberation' struggle and material support for Renamo and Frelimo was coming from the was the eastern blocks out of africa. I do not know why they are out of this discussion. kenya's intervention led to the peace accord that settled the situation. Same to south sudan peace accord.
you cannot downplay the role of the peace beacon in EAC because eventually, kenya did not turn around to take advantage and blackmail the situation the way western peace brokers do.

How low can one get in order to get even with Kenya. Most Kenyans don't even know that there is a bloc called SADC. Please remind me what has SADC ever done/ Achieved in all the years it has been in existence. Is there a success/Event associated with SADC?

after the peace accord renamo became a political party, but before they were terrorists, that tz was fighting with arms reciveing support from china, dar port being the conduit. say that apartheid was the key to all this

while SADC frontline states were already engaged in a military solution, be concious that kenya wanted only to act as the midwife of the peace accord, simmilar to the one midwifed for SSudan in naivasha that i must say reaped fruit.

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma has intensified his efforts to smooth relations with Kenya, strained since the apartheid era when the African National Congress (ANC) believed the East African state did not provide adequate support to the liberation movement.
After attending Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration last month, Mr Zuma held talks with the Kenyan leader on the margins of the World Economic Forum in Cape Town last week, where discussions centred on bilateral issues - a diplomatic euphemism for ironing out issues of contention.
The talks came after Mr Zuma had made similar overtures to Nigeria, where South African business has headed for 20 years, but where sound political relations did not always follow. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan made his first official visit to South Africa last week, after Mr Zuma's visit to Abuja last month.
Former president Thabo Mbeki did not make a state visit to Kenya during his term, and Mr Zuma had not been to Kenya on a state or official visit since he took office in 2009. This had dismayed Kenya's political leaders as South African leaders skirted around Kenya while visiting Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda or Ethiopia.

As she seeks to engage burundi to create their parrallel community bloc what is most shocking to tz is the hunter feels the hunted.....all along she has created the environment for her own failure by bieng stubborn in fasttracking the EAC with willing member states....

when it comes to apartheid, it was a conflict for the arable african lands and you realize it is the united states that has been supporting south africa/ all along until 1994 when it received express permission and instructions from the same US to release nelson Mandela and engage in a constructive social economic path. S africans suffered because they had no weapons of choice to fight against established rhodesians who had military might/capabilties

in those years of struggle against apartheid, the political situation in kenya was just emerging from the chains of ruthless british colonial decadence, unable to defend herself many kenyans lost their lives in systematic genocides and bloodshed. Tanzanians on the other hand did not die and shed from colonial rule and it would have been easier for the people of tz to engage in a miltary solution against apartheid.
