Milan fell at the Coppa Italia semi-final hurdle, so need to earn their place in Europe via Serie A, as they visit a Lecce side battling to stay up.
The Rossoneri were unfortunate to lose the Coppa semi-final to Juventus on away goals, despite playing most of the second leg down to 10 men. Ante Rebic saw red, but his ban doesn’t apply to Serie A, so he is available, although Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte are injured.
Giulio Donati sits out a ban for Lecce, who are currently level on points with Genoa in the final relegation spot. Fabio Liverani’s side were glad for the lockdown, seeing as their last games were 4-0 defeats to Roma and 7-2 at home with Atalanta.
It’s a special game for ex-Milan men Gabriel, Riccardo Saponara and Gianluca Lapadula.
Stat fact: Milan’s only Serie A defeat away to Lecce was 1-0 in April 2006, but seven of the last 10 editions of this fixture at the Stadio Via del Mare were stalemates.
