AC Milan are ready to listen to the request made by Stefano Pioli by adding midfield depth to the current squad, according to a report.
As MilanNews notes, after Milan-Cagliari on Saturday night Pioli – speaking in the press conference – admitted the need to sign midfielders in particular.
The midfield department cannot be made up of only two starters, but four starters. 22 starters will be needed, it will be necessary to raise the level of the whole team,” he said.
The report adds how for weeks there has been talk of a possible hijack of Inter’s move for Sandro Tonali, however it is now clear that he will in fact join the Nerazzurri.
The name of Florentino Luis is still lingering around and appears to be a player that Milan are considering despite Benfica’s high requests, while Matteo Pessina could also become a concrete target and a player who could be deputy to Hakan Calhanoglu in the trequartista position.
Tommaso Pobega will also come back from a good season on loan at Pordenone and must be assessed to see if he could become the ‘fourth choice’ midfielder or if he needs another experience on loan.
The feeling is that the the Rossoneri will not spend €30-40million for a single midfielder, a reason that perhaps prevented the Rossoneri from actually competing in the race for Tonali. It is simpler that this figure can be divided and spent on two players, maybe at €20m each.
