Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has agreed to join Italian club Napoli in the summer amid interest from other top European clubs, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso sees Osimhen as an alternative to attackers Dries Mertens and Arkadiusz Milik, who have been linked with moves away from Naples.
Mertens is out of contract this summer, while Milik continues to be linked with a move away from the Stadio San Paolo as he enters the final year of his contract.
Meanwhile, Napoli, Serie A runners-up in three of the past four seasons, are yet to reach an agreement with Lille, who want more than £50 million for the Nigerian international.
Osimhen joined Lille at the beginning of the season from Belgian side Charleroi for €12 million and has been an influential player at the Stade Pierre Mauroy ever since.
The 21-year-old has scored an impressive 18 goals and provided a further six assists in 38 games in all competitions.
In a sad development, the striker lost his dad Patrick Osimhen on Saturday night after a brief illness.
Final Take
Osimhen might have signed a five-year contract to keep him at Lille until 2024, but with his current form and the number of top clubs after his signature, it will take a miracle to remain in France next season.
However, his advisers should focus on whichever team that is best equipped to make him continue his development.
Question: Is Napoli the best option for Osimhen?
