Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact on Milan has been marked, especially from a psychological point of view.

As Tuttosport notes on Friday (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri have gone up a gear since his arrival and lots of players have seen their form take a dramatic upwards turn, such as Hakan Calhanoglu, Franck Kessie and Ante Rebic.

However, at the end of the season – barring surprises – the Swede will say goodbye to Milan for the final time, and the task becomes finding a new leader.

There aren’t many players like Ibra around; players with his charisma and his ability to be decisive on the pitch. Milan will therefore have to look for an attacker on the market who does not succumb to the weight of the his legacy.

In the last few weeks, there have been several strikers linked with Milan, but the names so far are not exactly big stars.

Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli, for example, knows Italian football very well and could guarantee a good number of goals, but Juventus are also keen and could put together a more attractive offer.

Luka Jovic has also been linked, but his asking price (€50million) and the high salary he is requesting (€5m per season) provides two substantial obstacles.

In the last few days there has also been a lot of talk about Patrick Schick, a player whom Rangnick knows well, but again the fact remains that replacing Ibrahimovic will not be easy at all.

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has a couple of selection dilemmas to resolve ahead of the game against Bologna on Saturday.

Milan will be looking to build upon their impressive run since the resumption of Serie A, during which they have not lost a game and have beaten the likes of Roma, Lazio, Juventus and most recently Parma.

According to MilanLive, there may be a change to the back four for the game against Bologna, with Davide Calabria set to get the nod at right-back over Andrea Conti.

In midfield, Franck Kessie should be partnered once again by Ismael Bennacer in the engine room, while ahead of them Alexis Saelemaekers returns from suspension and should feature wide on the right.

Hakan Calhanoglu will remain as the playmaker, while Ante Rebic can take a spot on the left supporting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. If the Swede were to start from the bench, Rebic would move to playing as the striker with Bonaventura coming into the trident.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Calabria (Conti), Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Rebic; Ibrahimovic.

AC Milan are moving through the gears quickly in their search to secure direct qualification for next year’s Europa League.

The Rossoneri have won five of their seven league games since the resumption of Serie A including big victories over Roma, Lazio, Juventus and most recently Parma.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport highlights on Friday (via MilanNews), Stefano Pioli deserves credit for the way he has turned the ship around, with four players in particular highlighted as having made big improvements.

The man of the moment is Franck Kessie who has netted three consecutive goals. His growth has been exponential and his future will be at Milan into next season. Beside him, Ismael Bennacer is also doing excellent things: with him the Rossoneri have finally found a midfield general of the present and above all of the future.

Moving towards the attack, the explosion of Ante Rebic was as impressive as it was unexpected. After a first half of the campaign in which he struggled to even get on the pitch, the Croatian has changed gear after Christmas and became the top scorer.

Finally, it is also down to Rafael Leao to continue the positive impressions we have seen recently. The Portuguese starlet must understand that to play continuously his technical qualities are not enough, but also the right attitude is needed.
