Shirika la Ndege la Fastjet linatarajia kuondoka katika soko la Tanzania, baada ya kujiendesha kwa hasara kutokana na sababu mbalimbali, zikiwemo ushindani kutoka Shirika la Ndege la Tanzania (ATCL), changamoto za kisheria, na uwezo wake wa kukusanya fedha.

Kampuni ya Fastjet Plc iliyoorodheshwa katika soko la hisa la London, nchini Uingereza inatarajia kuuza hisa zake asilimia 49 katika Shirika la Ndege la Fastjet Tanzania kutokana na changamoto kubwa za kibiashara.

Kuondoka kwa Fastjet Plc ndani ya Fastjet Tanzania kutaliacha shirika hilo (Fastjet Tanzania) na uwezo mdogo wa kushindana na ATCL, ambayo imeanza kwa kasi kufufua upya shirika hilo.

Fastjet imeeleza kuwa, changamoto za mazingira ya kufanyia biashara na ushindani wa ATCL ndio changamoto kubwa ambazo mmiliki mpya atakabiliana nazo katika kuhakikisha shirika hilo linatengeneza faida. Baada ya serikali kununua ndege nne mpya, imeongeza ushindani mkubwa kwa Fastjet kwani imekuwa ikifanya safari katika maeneo Fastjet ilikuwa ikifanya, na hivyo kupunguza wateja.

Fastjet imeeleza kuwa imekuwa ikipata changamoto kubwa katika safari za Dar es Salaam-Mwanza na Dar es Salam-Kilimanjaro baada ya ATCL kuanza kutumia ndege yake mpya aina ya Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner ambayo ina uwezo wa kubeba abiria 262.

Changamoto za kisheria ambazo shirika hilo limeeleza kukumbana nazo ni pamoja na kuchukua muda mrefu kwa ndege zake mpya tatu aina ya ATR72-600 kuruhusiwa kuanza kufanya kazi. Hatua hiyo inafanya wazidi kuingia gharama za kutunza ndege hizo wakati hazifanyi kazi.

“Hakuna dalili changamoto hizi zitamalizika lini. Kulikuwa na changamoto za uingizwaji wa ndege mpya za ATR72-600, pamoja na kibali cha safari za ndani kwa ajili ya ATR72-600 na ERJ190 ambacho kwa miezi kadhaa sasa bado hakijapatikana, na hii imeathiri kwa kiasi kikubwa ukuaji wa kampuni.”

Aidha, Fastjet imesema kuwa itakodisha ndege hizo, kuliko kufanyia biashara katika anga la Tanzania.
Kuanzia Januari hadi Juni 2018, Fastjet ilisafirisha abiria 201,000 ambapo safari kati ya Dar es Salaam na Mwanza, ndizo zilikuwa na abiria wengine zaidi.

Lakini idadi hiyo ya abiria ilipungua kwa asilimia 9, kutokana na kubadilishwa ndege ya safari kutoka Airbus A319 yenye uwezo wa kubeba abiria 144 na kutumia Embraer190s yenye uwezo wa kubeba abiria 104.

  • Januari 18, 2015; Ikiwa na abiria 131 waliokuwa wakisafiri na ndege ya Fastjet, kutoka jijini Dar es Salaam kwemda jijini Mbeya, walikumbwa na taharuki, baada ya ndege hiyo kushindwa kutua kwenye uwanja wa ndege wa kimataifa wa Songwe, na kubaki ikizunguka kasha ikarudi tena jijini Dar es Salaam.

  • Juni 12, 2018; katika Uwanja wa ndege wa Mbeya,Abiria waote walikuwa tayari wameshapanda ndege, Muda ukafika, baada ya dakika 20 ikatangazwa kuwa ndege ni mbovu hivyo haikuweza kwenda Mbeya. Abiria walitaarifiwa kwamba ni swala la kifundi “Technical Faults". Uchunguzi umebaini kwamba hata mfumo wa upoozaji ndani ya ndege ulishindwa kufanya kazi mpaka wakalazimika kufungua mlango wa mbele na ule wa nyuma wa kushoto na kulia.

Fastjet Plc said on Thursday it expected to report a trading loss and remain cash flow negative in 2016 as business in Tanzania remained weak.

The African budget airline said load factor in Tanzania for 2015 was down 6.6 percentage points to 66.7 per cent and revenues were impacted by a weakening Tanzanian economy and political uncertainty in the country.

Fastjet, which announced the departure of chief executive Ed Winter in March, said it was in the advanced stage for recruitment of a new CEO.

African budget airline Fastjet Plc said its Chief Executive Ed Winter would step down. Winter will remain at its helm until a new chief executive is appointed and after that he will continue in an advisory role for an agreed period of time, the London-listed company said. Headhunters would be appointed to start the search for a new CEO, Fastjet said. Winters, who was the CEO of Fastjet since 2012, has also been chief operating officer at EasyJet Plc, low cost airline Go and also CEO of National Air Services in Saudi Arabia.

FastJet needs to tell the truth to why they are abandoning the ship. Hii ya ushindani na ATCL au changamoto za kisheria hazina mashiko. Airline serious haiwezi kuingia kwenye soko na aina fulani ya ndege kisha uibadilishe muda mfupi tu kwa aina ingine ambayo pia baada ya muda mfupi unaibadilisha! Nyuma ya pazia hata hizi ndege si zake ni za wetu wengine. Pengine wameshindwa hata kuzilipia au wenye nazo wanazihitaji kwa soko lingine. Tusubiri mdhibiti 'regulator' TCAA atatueleza zaidi.
