Addyi (pronounced ADD-ee), a.k.a Flibanserin a.k.a Little Pink Viagra has been approved by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Addyi is designed to help women regain their sex drive by boosting levels of brain chemicals that affect sexual desire. Clinical trials revealed an increase "in the number of satisfying sexual events". Addyi a.k.a flibanserin corrects an imbalance of dopamine and norepinephrine (both responsible for sexual excitement), while decreasing levels of serotonin (responsible for sexual inhibition). Addyi (flibanserin) 100 mg tablet is taken once daily, at bedtime.
The most common side effects were dizziness, nausea and sleepiness. The risk of fainting, particularly when combined with alcohol, is a major concern. Due to this interaction Addyi will only be available from certified health care professionals and certified pharmacies.
Addyi is contraindicated for use with alcohol and in patients with liver impairment.
