F1 returns this weekend to where it all began in 1950 – an old World War II aerobase in Northamptonshire, more commonly known as Silverstone.
The 1950 event was staged on the perimeter roads of the base and the layout remains remarkably similar, with the Arena sector added in 2010 the only major change.

Lewis Hamilton was expected to win the British Grand Prix this weekend, but he had to do it the hard way.

After a disastrous start to the race at Silverstone, he got his strategy spot on to battle back and end up winning in the close stages.Hamilton had unlikely competition from Williams and the rain to take glory and push home his advantage to 17 points from Nico Rosberg.But as well as the points, Hamilton achieved plenty of other things.Heres three personal records hes broken:

3. First driver to win from pole since 1994

Its been a bloody long time since a Brit dominated the whole weekend in his home race by winning pole and then the race.Hamilton has done that though, becoming the first man since Damon Hill did it in 1994 to win after finishing on pole.What a guy!

The rain was out to stop Hamilton But he didnt care

2. First time hes ever won consecutive Silverstone races

Its been 15 years since anybody managed to win back-to-back races at Silverstone.David Couthard was the last man to do it in 1999 and then 2000, and now Lewis has done it for the first time.Can he make it three in a row next year? Dont bet against it.

1. Most bonus money paid at a British Grand Prix

Mercedes has promised Hamilton a huge £500,000 bonus payment if he won the British Grand Prix this weekend.The 30-year-old signed a £100m new contract this year which included the eye-watering payout if he got victory in his home race.Its believed to be a record bonus paid to any driver for victory at Silverstone.
