Franco & le T.P. O.K. Jazz - Baninga Tokola Balingaka Ngai Te (Lola Chécain) 1975: Pajoooooooosss Na Ndjili, As Opetum Shouted, Ntoya Fuala well known as PAJOS (1947-1984 RIP) was one of the first Congolese (Zairoi) to master the art of playing drum in 1970......opetum was so supreme in those days, he can do first or second voice anytime...you need to be a master in singing to do that....thats why we are still finding it very difficult to unearth good singers nowdays......anyway thanks for this song, i tought it was franco's.

Franco & le T.P. O.K. Jazz - Bimansha (Josky Kiambukuta) 1980: This is a monument to Josky's composing in his favorite Shaba rhythm (inspired by San Salvador). Starting with Fariya (1977), almost every one of his compositions was a variation on this groove.Also, in this era (the early 80's), the maracas was reinstated temporarily, and Josky (who had been taught by his mother) was brilliant at it. He plays it on the studio version of Bimansha (on vinyl nearly 16 minutes long), as well as on the Alita-Mehida-Massini-Limbisa Ngai album (stereo on vinyl, mono on cd), on which Franco doesn't play a note, by the way. And he also plays the maracas on Minzata (crisply recorded in 1987).The vocal line-up was the same as on the record: Dalienst, Opetum, Diatho, Kiambukuta.It is my guess the studio version was recorded later than this. That cut is a highlight in the repertoire of le T.P. O.K. Jazz in every respect, not in the least because of Franco's six-and-a-half minute guitar solo. SAVAGE!! Mpudi Decca on bass, Makosso on rhythm guitar, Gerry Dialungana "solo", Franco mi-solo. Ntoya on drums and I'm not sure about the sax players, possibly Matalanza on the left. Percussionist slipped my mind.
8. T.P. O.K. Jazz - Manguta (Nguashi Ntimbo): Vocals: Djo Mpoyi, Nguashi Ntimbo (Composer of the song), Lola Chécain, Josky Kiambukuta.the translation of the "Manguta" fragment you posted. Essentially, it is a call and response session between the Chorus and the short solo by Josky Kiambukuta, followed by an extended "sebene". Josky is obviously improvising on the original composition and he keeps changing the metaphors he used to refer to the beloved Manguta "flower of my heart", "flower from the saints", "flower from the bards", "mermaid". I guess he could have gone on for a bit. It's not always easy to what these Lingala singers say, especially when they use "Frangala" that all-too-popular Kinshasa way of combining Lingala roots and French suffixes (or vice-versa).
