The idea of gender balance is a healthy equilibrium between the different demands, responsibilities, activities, and needs of our lives in order to remain balanced and centred. It is a topic that is often discussed but not always achieved. The concept of achieving balance between work and life is not a new one. In fact, it’s been around for centuries as an ideal to be strived for. In the 21st century, when more women are balancing career aspirations with family obligations than ever before, the need for a personal exploration of how we can achieve this seemingly impossible balance is imperative. Understanding what role gender plays in your own life can be both eye-opening and challenging.

Today’s world is moving towards a more balanced and inclusive environment for the fair treatment of all people, irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity. Gender equality is a fundamental human right. It is a principle that everyone should be treated fairly and equally, regardless of their gender. We live in a society where men and women are not given equal opportunities to prove themselves as individuals with unique skills and talents. The roles assigned to men and women at birth have been so deeply entrenched in our social conscience that we often fail to notice how unfair they really are. The expectations that are placed on each sex are quite disparate, which forces us into making decisions that don’t align with our own personal beliefs.

Gender equality is a great thing when it comes to working conditions, education, or any other social aspect. However, this doesn’t mean that men and women are treated in the same way when it comes to their personal lives. There is still a long road ahead of us until we achieve a balance between the roles of men and women and achieve gender equality. We can all take steps further towards this balance by incorporating some simple changes in our lives. Gender equality extends beyond just career opportunities, education, voting rights and property ownership; it also touches on childcare responsibilities, domestic work, parental leave, and many other aspects of daily life.
