The USAID/Tanzania Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Adapting (T-MELA) project will provide these services to the USAID/Tanzania Mission and its implementing partners.
The work will include strengthening Mission staff’s ability to employ data to make strategic decisions, advancing Mission learning on youth development challenges via evaluations and assessments, developing the M&E and collaborating, learning and adapting capacity of Mission, implementing partner and Government of Tanzania staff and building the capacity of local M&E organizations.
The GIS specialist will support the T-MELA team by producing maps, data visualizations, and other cartographic products. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing spatial datasets and will be required to work effectively with USAID and other parties to collect, update and maintain geospatial datasets. This is a long-term assignment based in Dar es Salaam.

Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of experience conducting geospatial analysis, managing geospatial data, and cartographic production.
- Expertise with proprietary and open source GIS software including ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Excellent data management skills and experience working with datasets in multiple formats including shapefile, geodatabase, and CSV.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to produce high-quality work under deadlines.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with international development projects. USAID experience preferred.
- English language fluency is required, and Swahili proficiency is preferred.
