For the first time in Kenya, election is not about tribes per'se, Luos supported their own, which is understandable, Ruto alipata kura in many places pia, tokea coast hadi western, Nyanza tu ndio alipata kura kidogo sana coz their son Raila was on the ballot, same way Raila hakupata kura nyingi kwa wakalenjin kwa vile walikua na Ruto, but system ilioko ime set a good precedent, yeyote anaweza kuwania urais na akiwashawishi wananchi anaweza kushinda wazi wazi, tokea sasa kuenda mbele hakuna mambo ya kingpin, ni sera yako ndio itakuuza kwa watu, Ruto amefaulu kuondoa "Moi, Odinga na Kenyatta" status quo, and with majimbo system in place, watu wameanza kupoteza hamu na siasa za urais, focus ni kwa county politics, yaani watu wana angalia governor, MCAs, Women rep, Senator na MP kule mashinani sana sana. partially you are right but partially you are wrong. Am a luo, i come from a political family of the late MP and speaker of the national assembly job amino. i am amongst the people who did not vote coz things in the country don't add up and due to some family reasons . i grew up seeng akina hon, raila, olago, anyang nyongo, Hon, khaniri visiting my uncle in the late 1990s in Mililani kisumu when he was still an MP. if i could vote i wouldn't vote for the man from my tribe but i would vote for anyone... for instance i prefered Ruto for his enthusiasm contrary to most of my friends.( is this tribalism). what happens is that the common kenyan is enlightened but not that much about the life of politicians who are great friends. for instance, back then Hon olago and my uncle could contest for one elective position leave their supporters fighting while they come and dring in the house in Mililani. most of the life of Kenyan politicians life are sorted out ( this is what kenyans dont get) . for instance, if you if you look at the retirement benefits of uhuru, raila, rigathi and ruto..it is a huge sum of money which even most kenyans will never earn in their entire life working their day jobs. it suggests that the common kenyan should vote but still go back to hustle hard coz no politician will come for your rescue. Tribalism aside, i think Dr. WSR is the right man at the helm of the goverment. thanks to devolution, all regions are developing using allocations instead of focusing of the goverment. That will be a repeated history for Biafra war (Nigerian Igbos wanted their own country) After war the Igbos were discriminated in government positions, army, etc...the only thing that made them bounce back fast is business, Igbos are really good at business and are so smart at finding oppurtunities, I think they lead in this field in Africa.... Lord Forbid Luos try fight Kenya, It will take them 2 centuries to bounce back as they heavily rely on Classroom education for survival, even with a masters degree it will be hard to get jobs
When education was scarce in the past years the Haya's used this advantage because they did really well in school, most of them used this advantage to get so many good jobs and appointments in the higher ups which required higher education...i relate luos with people from the haya tribe in tz, some of them are well educated but fail to convey that education to develop their region.
