People be careful with prescriptions za hapa jukwaani, watu wanaibua google wanaziweka hapa, huyu jamaa namshangaa huwa analalamikia watu kuprescribe hapa na yeye ndio wa kwanza kufanya hivyo, Riwa stick to ur own standards. Some drugs like clindamycin are not allowed to be prescribed and obtained over the counter for fear or resistance and side effects. Though creams are topical, they can be absorbed and cause systemic side effects.BV inatibika kwa kutumia antibiotics, mara nyingi za cream za kuweka uko ukeni. Dawa hizi ni Metronidazole (Flagyl) vaginal cream, au Clindamycin vaginal cream...vile vile dawa ya kumeza (vidonge) inaitwa Tinidazole.

People take advice from here but get prescription from a doctor that you see and not a keyboard doctor. Nashauri tu.
Thanx Kapoloto for the reminder, but I always mention 'what disease' treated with 'what drug(s)'....Thats not prescribing. Knowing ALu treat Malaria is not prescribing. I still believe that prescriptions should be done by a trained personnel (Pharmacists are one of them atleast in our setting (Bongo), and so if you know the disease..and possibly the drug, you can get a correct prescription). The issue of drug resistance is very important to consider, yet...its not a reason not to advice somebody that a certain illness can be safely and adequately treated with a certain drug. Giving information to patients/clients is one of the big problem that render our health services not adequately utilised. Like you said, people do google for stuffs, then why cant we help put that stuff in a way that they can understand and demand for better services?!

I got u Riwa, It is true that mentioning a drug is not prescribing, as prescription involves provision of the name of the drug, dosage, duration and route of administration. My worry is when you mention a drug here, people just copy it and take to the pharmarcy and whoever they find there gives a prescription, this is dangerous to some drugs, because most pharmacies do not have pharmacists rather drug sellers, whose prescriptions might be dangerous.
May I differ with you Riwa on that red. The work of a pharmacist is only to dispense a drug, all prescriptions are strictly provided by qualified doctors, and I think we should discourage prescriptions by the pharmacists.
By the way you have been doing good job here I should recognize that and keep on advising people, of-course with limits.
I insist for anyone who is not professional please provide your experience but parts of the discussion that need professionalism leave to professionals.
I agree with you Kapoloto...my apologies.
There is this problem of people not seeking care from health facilities, or rather...from a qualified health care provider. Some surveys show that the first point of health care seeking are 'drug shops', where the 'dispensers' are..but after recognizing this, dispensers received a short kind'of prescribing training..thats why I said 'atleats in our setting (Bongo)', and you will agree with me that now are the main prescribers of most of the non-severe illnesses (I know its wrong, but you can blame it on people's health care seeking behaviours...no wonder 'Babu' received hundreds of thousand patients in such a short time!). Thats why I always believe in answering people's worries and questions concerning their health in a very simple but truthful way to encourage them to seek care from appropriate providers.
