The Pistons have waived Hasheem Thabeet, the team announced Monday.
Thabeet had signed a non-guaranteed deal with Detroit on Sept. 24, after he was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers, who acquired him from the Oklahoma City Thunder in an Aug. 26 trade.
Thabeetthe No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlieswas one of four players waived Monday by the Pistons. The team also cut ties with Brian Cook, Lorenzo Brown and Josh Bostic.

Thabeet played just five minutes in one preseason game this fall. He logged five minutes on Oct. 12 against the Washington Wizards, missing his only field goal attempt.
He appeared in 23 games last season with the Thunder, averaging 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game.
An All-American at Connecticut in 2008-09, Thabeet was drafted by the Grizzlies, who traded him to the Houston Rockets in February 2011. He went from there to Portland in a March 2012 trade and signed with Oklahoma City in the summer of 2012.
