Derby della Madonnina - probable lineups from La Gazzetta dello Sport:

AC Milan (4-3-2-1): G.Donnarumma; Conti, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Bennacer, Calhanoglu; Suso, Rebić; Piątek

Inter (3-5-2): Handanović; Skriniar, De Vrij, Godin; Asamoah, Sensi, Brozović, Barella, Candreva; L.Martinez, Lukaku

Giovanni Galli on Gigio : "Milan with Donnarumma is in good hands. On the other hand, someone like Gigio who at the age of 20 has already played 145 games in Serie A and being the first goalkeeper of the Nation, means that he is the best and I must also say that he is growing a lot."

Bennacer: “We have to win the derby; What I learn from Biglia?…”

AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has discussed his feelings heading into his first ever Derby della Madonnina, plus his relationship with Lucas Biglia.

The Algeria international arrived at the Rossoneri from Empoli during the summer in a deal which could rise to €16million, becoming the club’s fourth official signing in the process.

So far though he has started just one game; that being in the 1-0 victory over Brescia at San Siro prior to the international break.

It came as a shock to many that Biglia started ahead of the 21-year-old against Hellas Verona on Sunday, though La Gazzetta dello Sport (via @teammilanac on Twitter) suggested earlier in the week that Bennacer will start the derby.

Now, the former Arsenal man has discussed what he learns from Biglia and sitting on the bench in Verona.

“It was all very fast. I have already worked with my team-mates and coach, we are working and we are growing,” he told Sky Italia, via Calciomercato.com.

“I personally am happy, it is a great challenge for me.

“Upset about Verona? No, it’s normal. I am available, I have not played because it is so, I have to work and I am new.

“Biglia is back, he is a great player and I have to learn a lot from him. That’s football.

“What can I learn from Lucas? He has so much experience, he is 33, he knows what he has to do on the pitch when we have the ball and when we don’t have it, he is always concentrated to the end, we are not the same and for us it is good because I can learn so much, that that he has and I don’t have it.”

Saturday’s derby presents the biggest test of the season so far for Milan as they come up against an Inter side which have won three out of three so far.

Bennacer, though, is thinking about it like any other game.

“We all have to think the same in the match, the derby for our fans is more important maybe, but for us it’s a three-point match.

“Milan-Inter is a game that all the players would like to play in. We can’t say that there is a team stronger than the other, let’s see on the field.

“We have to win because this match is the first big test, Inter is a great team and we see what Saturday we will. ”

Serginho:

: " #Paquetà he is a great player but must understand that he is not in Brazil. It must be faster than thought, here they don't give you time to look up and reason

There is tension at AC Milan, from the struggles of Krzysztof Piątek, the irritated Zvonimir Boban and the Lucas Paquetà - Marco Giampaolo confrontation. Saturday's clash with Inter could be a turning point for the club.

Marco Giampaolo has won two and lost one of his first three matches as AC Milan boss, but Kaka said it is too early to judge him.

Kaka insists it is still too early to judge AC Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo, while he is tipping his former side to earn bragging rights against Inter this weekend.

Giampaolo was poached from Sampdoria during the close season and has made a steady if unspectacular start to life at San Siro.

Milan failed to register a shot on target in their 1-0 loss at Udinese on the opening weekend of the Serie A season but have since responded with back-to-back 1-0 wins against Brescia and Hellas Verona.

Next up for Giampaolo's men is Saturday's clash with league leaders Inter and Kaka, who spent two spells with Milan in his playing days, has stressed the importance of taking three points from the first Derby della Madonnina of the season.

"I think for Milan the derby is really important, because it's the first one and it's Milan against Inter," he told Omnisport. "We're playing at home and it would be nice to see Milan win a derby like this.

"Inter have started the season very well, but in my opinion Milan will win. It will be good for their Scudetto chances. If they want to win the league, it's important that they win this game."

Milan turned to Giampaolo after finishing a point outside the Champions League qualifying places last season.

"So far I think he's done good. He's OK," Kaka said. "If I'm not wrong it's just three games [in charge].

"What he's doing he's doing good. We will see. As a Milan supporter I'm expecting that Milan can win something this year and at least come back into the Champions League."

Giampaolo: "Defeating Verona was an important step. The team is improving game after game."

Giampaolo: "Our goal is to win [the derby]. It's important to play well and maintain our project but at the same time we have to give the fans the exploits they aspire for."

Giampaolo: "You need to be tactically sound. This is certainly one of the most difficult games we can play so we have to be out our very bes

Giampaolo: "It is definitely an important game as it always been. I don't know whether Inter are in a better shape than us. I am confident in my team."

Giampaolo: "I saw Inter's game in CL, it was completely different to what they faced before."

Giampaolo: "I believe it's possible to defend keeping possession. You don't need to park the bus to defend, there are many ways. Our goal is to do many things well but we need to work hard on each of them. I want my team to win the ball high on the field."

Giampaolo: "I don't think I've ever encounter Conte but he has had an important career. I've seen his evolution as a coach. I know what his idea of football is."

Giampaolo: "Conti will play. It's a chance for him. He has been playing well. I get the impression he developed and improved a lot compared to few months. He's always been aware that he as to improve his defending and I'm convinced he's improved."

Giampaolo: "As far as I am concerned there is only one Milan. I coach 23 players and I'm happy with them, but there is only one Milan. I don't talk about individual players, the team comes before any individual."

The club has today announced that they will establish a task force after numerous racist events took place in Italy since the start of the season.
Milan’s Franck Kessié and Inter’s Romelu Lukaku are just two players who have suffered from racism since the start of the 2019/20 Serie A campaign.

And while the Lega and FIGC shockingly do next to nothing to address the issue, the Rossoneri have taken it upon themselves to try and make a change in Calcio.
The club released the following statement on the eve of the Derby della Madonnina:

Milan, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, has today announced that it will establish an internal task force, with the support of an external consultancy, to address the issue of racism in Italian football. This newly-formed group will develop a programme of activities to increase awareness, monitor and address racist behavior on social media and in the stadium, and drive the adoption of global best practices on diversity and inclusion.

Following several months of planning and internal discussion, the club has decided to accelerate the launch of the initiative after a number of high-profile events in recent weeks that have resulted in negative press both domestically and internationally.

The initiative will be launched at the club’s home match against Inter, in order to demonstrate solidarity with some of the most high-profile targets of the negative behavior. The match will be positioned as the “Derby Against Racism” and the players from both teams will join together for a photograph to mark the occasion before kick-off.
This move is consistent with the pioneering nature of the club, which has brought numerous footballing icons of diverse backgrounds to Serie A, including the first Milan black player to win the Ballon d’Or (Ruud Gullit, 1987) and its first African winner (George Weah, 1995).

Ivan Gazidis, CEO of Milan, stated: “Italian football needs to wake up and take a strong stance against racist behaviors. Milan will take a leadership position on this issue, promoting basic human values that are relevant to us all. Football provides a powerful example of the strength of unity and teamwork. Diversity, inclusion and tolerance enhance the strength of the team, the club and of society as a whole. We believe that we have a moral obligation to do everything we can to address this issue.”

Referring to the “Derby Against Racism” initiative, Mr. Gazidis added: “This first significant step aims to visibly demonstrate that we will be proactive in our efforts to tackle racism in football. These values transcend football rivalries and we are delighted to have the support of Inter for this initiative.”

Paolo Scaroni, Milan’s President, added his support, saying: “I am pleased that Milan is taking action to address one of the most important issues in our game and our society. This club has a powerful voice and I believe we can play an important role in the fight against racism.”

Key Stats
Inter Milan are unbeaten in the last six Milan derbies in Serie A (W3, D3). The last time the Nerazzurri went on a longer run without being beaten by AC Milan in the Italian top-flight was back in September 1999 (a run of 10).

AC Milan have won each of their last four games at home, while conceding only one goal in the process. The last time they won five consecutive Serie A fixtures at home was back in August 2014.
AC Milan and Inter Milan boast the meanest defence in Serie A this season, having conceded just one goal each so far. The two Milan sides have also conceded the fewest shots on target: AC Milan (eight), Inter Milan (nine, level with Bologna and Verona).

Marco Giampaolo and Antonio Conte will face each other as managers for the first time in Serie A. Both managers are unbeaten in their citizen derbies in the competition: Conte won all four games in-charge of Juventus against Torino; Giampaolo was unbeaten in six Genovese derbies with Sampdoria (W4 D2).
AC Milan have kept a clean sheet in 7 of their last 10 home games in Serie A.

AC Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo believes that a lack of experience cost his side in their 2-0 Derby della Madonnina defeat to Inter.

The Rossoneri headed into the fixture at San Siro knowing a win would see them jump above their city rivals, however they were outplayed once again.

It took until the second half for the first goal to be scored after two had been ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee in the first half, and VAR had a part to play in the opener.

Marcelo Brozovic’s deflected shot had initially been ruled out for offside but was overturned, and Romelu Lukaku added the killer blow 13 minutes from time.

The result means the Nerazzurri move six points ahead of Milan, who have now lost two of their first four games.
Giampaolo revealed after the game that he was happy with bits of his side’s performance, but bemoaned a lack of discipline.
“We were too hesitant at the start, then as the game progressed, Inter showed their greater experience,” the tactician told DAZN , via
Football Italia .

“The goal broke the deadlock and I was not happy to see that we reacted in an emotional way, so became less organised and less united.
“Milan were in the game throughout and only had that slight gap in terms of experience, which we had been able to bridge to a certain degree.

“Players were going into areas of the pitch they were not supposed to be in, so when losing the ball, we left gaps uncovered.
“I hadn’t minded the performance, as playing high we needed to run some risks and that is a choice we made. Sitting back and trying to play on the counter would’ve been a waste of energy.

“I liked the courage to keep pushing the ball forward and that lasted up until the opening goal, when we lost our shape. That showed a lack of maturity.”
Rafael Leao made the starting line-up for Milan and was one of the few bright spots.
“Leao is a good player, he is fast, agile and has skill,” Giampaolo continued.

“I thought his pace could cause problems for the Inter defence. He must learn to stay in the game throughout.
“Diego Godin up against him, for example, is a difference in experience. The good thing is that Leao is not a timid player, by any means.”

According to what has been reported by Tuttosport, Marco Giampaolo's days in charge of AC Milan could be numbered.

After the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan in the Milan derby last night, there is some concern amongst the Rossoneri leadership that the coach could lose his job.

The reports from Tuttosport indicate that Giampaolo has three games left to turn things around, with the fixtures in the next week against Torino and Fiorentina vital, before the match against Genoa at the start of October which is the last in their must-win run.

In an exclusive interview with Calciomercato.com, former AC Milan president and owner Silvio Berlusconi spoke about the Rossoneri's start to the season, which has disappointed many.

How did you see the derby last night?

"We are not talking about Milan, we look ahead. I can't follow them on television anymore, after a while the Rossoneri's style started to disappoint me."

Yet you said Milan chose Giampaolo also because of your advice?

"No, I didn't recommend him, he recommended him (laughing, he points to Galliani). It's his fault. No, we didn't really recommend him. Milan chose him and he appeared to be a very good manager. I don't know him, I can't give any judgment on him."

He wants a playmaker in his ideal formation. Does Suso convince you?

AC Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo has the full support of the club’s leadership despite the struggles so far this season, a report claims.

The Rossoneri have had a mixed start to the season, having won two and lost two of their opening four Serie A fixtures.
In that stretch though they have scored just twice; one each coming in 1-0 wins over Brescia and Hellas Verona either side of the international break.

Those wins were sandwiched by two worrying performances – namely the 1-0 opening day defeat to Udinese in which Milan did not manage a shot on target, and the 2-0 derby defeat to Inter on Saturday night.
Serious questions are beginning to be asked of Giampaolo for the first time, however the former Sampdoria boss has nothing to be worried about, if the latest reports are to be believed.

According to ANSA on Sunday (via Calciomercato.com), Giampaolo has the ‘full support’ of those above him, with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara even having been at training on Sunday.

A difficult trip to Torino beckons on Thursday, and another bad result could of course change the minds of the Rossoneri leadership.
However, for the time being it appears Giampaolo has time
