Former Milan boss Rino Gattuso has rejected a proposal from Sampdoria to be their new manager.

Sampdoria have been struggling in the league under Eusebio di Francesco, who replaced Marco Giampaolo earlier this summer. But Samp have won only a single game in the league and have lost five.

SampNews24 claim that in recent days, Sampdoria contacted Gattuso and put forward a proposal that the former Milan and Rangers player rejected because he isn't convinced by the project at the blucercherati.

Gattuso had already rejected Sampdoria this past summer when they were without a manager in favor of an offer from a bigger club in Europe. He has also been linked with Genoa, with Aurelio Andreazzoli's job in trouble.

The number candidate for the Samp job currently happens to be Stefano Pioli, for whom the club had already found an agreement of 1.2 million euros a season before they ended up hiring Di Francesco in the summer.

AC Milan have made direct contact with Max Allegri over the idea of a return to the club as manager, according to a report.

The Rossoneri’s crisis deepened on Sunday night as Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina won 3-1 at San Siro to condemn Milan to a fourth defeat in six games to begin the season.

It marks only the third time in the club’s history that they have lost four games before the seventh round – the first time since 1938-39 – and the pressure is building on Giampaolo.

TMW linked Andriy Shevchenko with the job, while Vito Angele confirmed to us that Giampaolo’s position is under threat, with three possible temporary solutions being considered .

According to SportMediaset – as cited by Calciomercato.com – contacts were made to bring Allegri back to the club where he won the Scudetto in 2010-11.

However, they describe the track as ‘cold’ and ‘complicated’ at the moment due to the excessive economic demands of the former Juventus boss.

Giampaolo needs to stick with what has always worked for him
Giampaolo has talked many times about how he wants to transmit his ideas to the players but him switching his formation after match day 1 hasn’t helped him at all. Same issues Montella and Gattuso faced when they had to switch formations because of defeats to Lazio and Inter respectively in previous seasons.

Giampaolo should stick to the 4-3-1-2 he knows and use the players most suitable for the formation. The 4-3-3 isn’t working as it needs mobile forwards but with Suso hugging the line and Piątek unable to play with the ball at his feet, we are hardly going to get more than one goal per game except we hope to continue relying on the individual brilliance of Leão.

It’s high time Giampaolo borrows a leaf from Lazio who have mobile ball-playing forwards like Immobile and Correa or Atalanta who have Papu Gómez and Duván Zapata. Maybe it’s high time he keeps all the static players like Kessié, Suso and Piątek on the bench and use mobile ball-playing players like Bonaventura, Rebić and Leão upfront.
Conte has always used 3-5-2, Sarri has always used 4-3-3, and Giampaolo had better stick to the 4-3-1-2 which he really knows because his 4-3-3 h

x-Milan man Massimiliano Mirabelli has taken aim at Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban. “Being a great champion doesn’t make you a director.”

Maldini and Boban have come under fire following Milan’s poor start to the season, and Mirabelli suggested the pair were not cut out to work for the Rossoneri.

“Milan’s big problem is that they mustn’t live in the past,” the 50-year-old, who was the Diavolo’s sporting director in 2017-18, told Radio Punto Nuovo.

“History must be remembered, but you can’t be a prisoner of your history. Being a great champion on the pitch doesn’t make you a director.

“Everyone has it in for Giampaolo, whom I consider an excellent Coach. Those who know Giampaolo are aware that Milan must build a team tailored to him, and this isn’t a team who can express themselves in the way he wants.

“Suso is one of their their most important players but can’t play as a No 10, so they don’t have the right man for that position.
“There was a communication breakdown in building the team.”

midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly waiting for an approach from his former club.

The 41-year-old has managed the Milan-based club from 2017 to 2019 and left the post after the club failed to cement a place in the UEFA Champions League.
Gattuso was replaced by Marco Giampaolo who is increasingly under pressure after the Rossoneri suffered four defeats in the first six league matches.

Therefore, Gattuso has now emerged as one of the top contenders to replace the 52-year-old in the near future.

Gattuso was approached by Serie A outfit Genoa but that approach did not materialise into something substantial.

Report: Milan identify Wenger as Giampaolo replacement

Italian Serie A giants AC Milan have identified English Premier League outfit Arsenal’s former manager Arsene Wenger as a potential candidate to replace under-fire manager Marco Giampaolo.

The 52-year-old is on the brink of an early exit after Rossoneri’s horrid start to their league campaign where they have suffered four defeats from first six league matches, which left them as low as 16th on the league table.

Therefore, as per the Sun who cited Gazzetta, Milan have already identified the 69-year-old as a perfect fit to replace Giampaolo.

Wenger, who is out of job ever since leaving Arsenal in the summer of 2018, might be tempted to join Milan where he can once again work with club’s
Executive Ivan Gazidis, with whom he has already worked for years in London.

Wenger is being termed as one of the best manager in club football for the work he has done with the Gunners from 1996 to 2018.

Italian Serie A giants AC Milan were linked with a lot of players with attacking capabilities in the recently concluded summer transfer window, but most of those rumours could not materialise into something substantial.

One of them featured Shakhtar Donetsk’s midfielder Taison, who was heavily linked with a move to San Siro.

But the Milan-based club refused to meet Shakhtar’s valuation of €30 million for the players and instead opt to sign Ante Rebic from German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Taison came to San Siro on Tuesday in a UEFA Champions League tie against Italian club Atalanta, but the player’s performance showed that the Milan-based outfit’s hierarchy were right to not pay such a hefty amount for a player who is already 31 and will turn 32 in January.

Following a very disappointing start to the season, losing four of the first six games, Giampaolo is considering making some changes against Genoa to save his job with the Rossoneri, which is at great risk.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), Piatek could start on the bench for Saturday’s clash, as the Polish striker has failed to impress at the start of the season.

The Rossoneri have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just one goal from open play in six games. An additional two were scored by Piatek from the spot, though this hasn’t unleashed him in open play as of yet, struggling to link up with his teammates.

Therefore, as the newspaper states, Giampaolo is thinking about fielding a new attacking trio against Genoa, consisting of Suso, Rafael Leao and Rebic. The Portuguese youngster, who scored against Fiorentina, would thus be deployed in the centre instead.

Likely AC Milan XI vs. Genoa (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Calabria, Duarte, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Krunic (Kessie), Bennacer, Calhanoglu; Suso, Leao, Rebic.

According to Italian football legend Paolo Di Canio, AC Milan’s lack of tactical organisation means they are not getting the best out of Algerian star Ismael Bennacer.

The 21-year-old joined the Rossoneri on the back of an excellent display for his national team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was the player of the tournament as the Fennec Foxes claimed their second continental title.

However, Bennacer has been unable to reproduce that form for Milan, and this past weekend his struggles hit a new low when he conceded two penalties in the club’s 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Fiorentina in Serie A.

Di Canio, though, believes that a lack of organisation and discipline in midfield leaves Bennacer with too much work to do, and argues that the Algerian should be given greater playmaking responsibilities by coach Marco Giampaolo.

“With [Franck] Kessie and [Hakan] Calhanoglu running in all directions, Bennacer often finds himself alone and has to cover too much perimeter,” explained Di Canio.

“Instead he should be assigned two bodyguards [defensive midfielders] and be allowed to lead the team and the game properly.
“He is the driving force and the brain of the team, there is currently no organisation and he suffers a lot.”

Bennacer will look to redeem himself this weekend when Milan face Genoa away on Saturday night.

GdS: Giampaolo will ‘continue to rely’ on Calhanoglu and Suso

AC Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo is ready to continue to put his trust in Suso and Hakan Calhanoglu, according to a report.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Rossoneri at present, with the team having made their worst start to a season since 1938-39.

Giampaolo’s side have lost four of their opening six games, and il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews.it) recently stated that everything now rests on Saturday’s game against Genoa in terms of saving his job.

Sky are reporting that Giampaolo is ready to start one of Samu Castillejo, Ricardo Rodriguez, Lucas Biglia or Fabio Borini at the Marassi in order to freshen things up.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport meanwhile – as cited by Calciomercato.com – the boss will continue to rely on Calhanoglu and Suso despite concerns over their form.

Alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alessio Romagnoli, the Turkey and Spain internationals are the players that Giampaolo apparently trusts most.

AC Milan are ‘ready to close’ a swap deal with Real Madrid involving Isco and Suso, according to reports in Spain.

News also says, Real Madrid are interested in a move for AC Milan’s star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma

*Ancelotti considers Napoli exit*

Carlo Ancelotti could reportedly quit Napoli at the end of the season if the club’s fortunes do not improve.

Expectations for Ancelotti’s Napoli were high coming into the season after they signed the likes of Kostas Manolas and Hirving Lozano.
A 2-0 victory over Champions League holders Liverpool and three goals clawed back against Juventus, despite an eventual 4-3 defeat, seemed to verify them.

However, a home loss to Cagliari and dropped points against Racing Genk have been compounded by some tension with captain Lorenzo Insigne.

Although Insigne is expected to be reinstated against Torino on Sunday, Corriere dello Sport speaks of a possible divorce between the Coach and club this summer.

Despite being only six games into Serie A 2019-20, they already trail leaders Inter by six points and could fall further behind if they lose to Toro and the Nerazzurri beat Juve in the Derby d’Italia.

With that in mind, the former Milan boss may decide to forfeit the final year of his contract and leave at the conclusion of the campaign.
