Alessio Romagnoli,
The young AC Milan leader, continues to surprise. Writes Gazzetta dello sport.

Since Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his glorious return to the Rossoneri, Milan has started to play properly proposing proactive football and also creating many goal scoring opportunities, but not only this, because the Rossoneri have kept the clean sheet nine times. Thanks to Gianluigi Donnarumma, but not only, also thanks to a precise defensive phase, led by a young Leader: Alessio Romagnoli.

25 MILLION - At just Twenty years of age ,Alessio Romagnoli arrived at the Rossoneri. Strongly desired by Sinisa Mihajlovic after a positive season with the Sampdoria shirt, the young defender was bought by Milan for 25 million euros. Alessio chose the number 13 shirt, that of his idol Alessandro Nesta. A difficult start alongside Mexes, the Rossoneri's first season ends with 40 total appearances and an Italian cup lost in the final against Juventus.

YOUNG LEADER - In the following years the growth of Romagnoli is exponential, despite the several changes in team mates Alessio's performances improve dramatically. Anzio's boy turns into the young Milan Leader, leading the team from behind, his charisma always makes itself felt, despite the many and unjustified admonitions. In this championship Romagnoli is the fourth best player in terms of recovery, the former Dorian has in fact recovered 318 balls in this seasons 25 Serie A games. An important figure that is certainly influencing the very few goals conceded by the team coached by Stefano Pioli.

INCREASE IN VALUE: Alessio has certainly quadrupled in terms of value. As of 2020 the Anzio boy is worth over 60M euros.

Tuttosport: AC Milan to sign the next Marek Hamsik

Posted on February 28, 2020 by Rossonero

AC Milan are working to close in advance the signing of Argentine talent Matias Zaracho, considered the next Marek Hamsik.

Matias Zaracho, midfielder of the Racing Club de Avellaneda tops AC Milan’s transfer list for the summer market. After a failed attempt in January, the Rossoneri are moving to close a deal in advance for the Argentine talent.

In January, AC Milan offered 15 million euros to sign the 21-year-old playmaker who has a release clause of 25 million euros. Nevertheless, the price is affordable and considering the perspective of the player the Rossoneri are optimistic. In addition, the player has already agreed to join Milan.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport makes a good profile of the Argentine, born in 1998 and raised in the youngsters of Racing before joining and establishing himself as a regular starter in the first team. Matias Zaracho is compared to Marek Hamsik, one of the best players in the history of Napoli and one of the best midfielders of the past decade in Serie A.

Skilled both with and without the ball, Matias gives his best as inside left in midfield. A playmaker with great technique ready to offer a killer pass but he must improve in his goal scoring abilities. An advanced player must always aim more for the goal.

This season, Racing sit fifth in Superliga standings and fight for a place in the Libertadores Cup. Matis Zaracho has made 17 appearances so far, scoring 4 goals. Not bad but there is room for better and age is on his side.

After what has been a disappointing season so far, AC Milan will be looking to revolutionize the team in the summer. Therefore, they have already started to make plans for the transfer market, scouting players in Italy and abroad.

According to Nicolo Schira of Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Rossoneri like the player a lot and had scouts at Udinese’s last game to observe him. Provided that media and scouts are allowed at Udinese-Fiorentina, they will also watch the midfielder then.

Talks between Milan and De Paul’s entourage have already started, with the San Siro side looking to get more information about the future. Udinese, meanwhile, have set their asking price at €30-35m, which is a significant price tag.

Therefore, the Rossoneri will observe the player closely to evaluate a potential investment, per the report. It remains to be seen if the negotiations will go any further, as everything will depend on the Argentine’s performances.

AC Milan have one of the youngest squads in Serie A, which in many ways is a good sign for the future. However, as we have seen this season, having experience can make a big difference in some situations.

The balance at Milanello has shifted since Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived in January, whose mission was to raise the bar for the entire team. Considering his impact, the management has understood that a balance between youth and experience is needed.

As reported by MilanNews.it’s Anto Vitiello this morning, Thiago Silva is a hypothesis that will be evaluated in the summer. The Brazilian’s contract with PSG will expire in June, meaning he could return to Milan for free.

For now, there are no real negotiations between the parties. However, in an interview with TMW, the defender’s agent said: “Thiago has always had a great relationship with Milan. And if we don’t renew with PSG, everything is possible”.

This remains the main condition for the transfer. In order to return to Milan, obviously, he can’t renew his deal with PSG. Above all, though, he would have to lower his salary significantly as he currently earns €12m a year, per the report.

Should the conditions become favourable in the summer, then Milan are ready to intervene, just like they did with Ibrahimovic in December.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Fiorentina are watching Ante Rebic’s progress at AC Milan with great satisfaction, according to a report.

After struggling for game time up until the Christmas break, the Croatia international has been nothing short of a revelation. Just less than two months into 2020, he already has seven goals in all competitions, making him the club’s top scorer overall.

His future is still to be resolved though, as the 26-year-old arrived on a two-year loan deal from the Bundesliga side with striker Andre Silva going the other way on the same terms.

There has been plenty of talk about Milan looking to turn Rebic’s into a permanent one, and Tuttosport (via MilanNews) have offered an update in their Thursday edition.

The newspaper claims that the German club currently value Rebic at around €40m given his recent important to the Rossoneri, but €20m of that would go to Fiorentina, who are entitled to 50% on the future resale.

However, Milan have a plan: they hope to lower the cash outlay by inserting Andre Silva in the deal. The Portugal international has four goals and two assists in 14 league appearances for Frankfurt so far this season.

FIFA have rejected Sporting CP’s request for compensation after they felt current Milan forward Rafael Leao broke his contract unfairly.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported that Leao was Milan’s most expensive summer signing, having paid €35million to sign him from from Lille.

However, when he joined back in August it was revealed that his former club Sporting – where he came through the academy – are not happy about the situation.

It all stems from the chaos back in July 2018, when the club’s fans attacked players and coaches while they trained, leading to a number of players ending their contract. Some of them, including Leao, have since gone on to be sold and Sporting maintain their stance that they have been robbed of a transfer fee.

The Portuguese side in fact filed a request for compensation with FIFA for damages equal to €45million, MilanNews notes.

However, football’s governing body FIFA has declared Sporting’s appeal inadmissible, effectively closing the dispute. In the next few days they will reveal their reasoning for arriving at such a conclusion

The agent of AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega has revealed what the future holds for his client, amid reports he will be assessed this summer.

It was reported by Tuttosport (via MilanLive) earlier in the week that the Rossoneri are keeping a close eye on the progress of Pobega, who has been on loan for two seasons. After his experience in Ternana in Serie C last season, he is now doing excellently for Pordenone in Serie B.

From a central midfield role he has amassed five goals and three assists in 19 league appearances, and he only became a starter towards the end of November under head coach Attilio Tesser.

The player’s representative Patrick Bastianelli was interview by MilanNews about his client’s present situation and how he sees the future with Milan.

“How is his season progressing? Very well, Tommaso is having a superb season, having also scored five goals, he is growing from game to game.

“He has a contract expiring on June 30, 2022. I believe that Pobega has the physical, technical, character and moral qualities to play in a great team in the future. Milan are very attentive and are following his growth with great attention.

“Tommaso is focused on ending the season well with Pordenone. He is ready to play in Serie A as a protagonist. As far as the best course is concerned, it is premature to talk about it today even if with Milan to date there has been full harmony in creating the right path of growth together, and the results are being seen.

“Tommaso is a boy with important human values, a serious boy, very mature for his age. Among other things, he is passionate about NBA and likes to cook. He takes great care of every aspect related to food.

“He is very determined, perfectionist, cheerful and positive. Great credit also goes to his family, father Giorgio and mother Elena made him grow up in a serene way, transmitting important values and an always constructive attitude.”

Tuttosport added that Milan will bring him back in the summer to evaluate him during preseason, while Primavera captain Marco Brescianini could head out on loan.

AC Milan have been handed a double boost as a key attacking duo wish to stay at the club beyond the summer, according to a report.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic secured his return to the Rossoneri in January after an eight-year absence, and there is no denying the impact that the Swede has had on and off the field, helping to guide an inexperienced group.

Meanwhile, Ante Rebic has discovered excellent form so far in 2020 after having joined on a two-year loan last August. He has six goals in Serie A this calendar year alone and has established himself as the club’s outright top scorer.

According to Claudio Raimondi of SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Rebic would like to remain at Milan again, providing that Ibrahimovic also chooses to stay.

The same outlet claimed that the Milan leadership are ready to offer the 38-year-old a one-year extension worth around €7m net, and now they are claiming that he is ready to accept the renewal.

Ibrahimovic therefore can become the catalytic and attractive element even for a more competitive market in the next summer window.

Alessio Romagnoli for Milan TV:

About the next match:

There will be an unprecedented match for us. Lack of audience at the stadium will be something very strange. We are used to the presence of the public every Sunday. We are grateful to them for their support. Certainly we will miss fans in this match. This will be another reason to play a great match and score 3 points.

About the team spirit:

Playing at San Siro behind closed doors will not be easy for us. For the first time, this happens to me in my career. We need to be focused in this match and give everything or even more to win the victory on our own ground. We only need to think about the events on the pitch. Support from fans always gives us additional motivation to act. We must be aware that supporters will support us under all circumstances.

About preparations for the match:

Every day we give our best at training and on the pitch. We want to prepare ourselves for every match. We are aware that the upcoming matches will be demanding and hard for us. We stick to each training because we want to prepare for the next match as well as possible. We're focused on the match tomorrow. We also think about the rest of the season.

About coronavirus:

This is a fairly critical situation. On behalf of the entire team, I would like to thank everyone who deals with infected people. We follow the instructions that the relevant institutions have given us. Italy is a strong country, it was, is and will be. Health is the foundation for every person, not just for us, footballers. I hope that every day the situation will improve and from the next match the fans will be able to return to the stadium.

Boban: “For the good of Milan the ownership has to intervene but has to be clear on the budget and objectives. Despite the cuts we don’t know what margins we will have.”

Director Zvonimir Boban confessed Ivan Gazidis went behind his back to contact Ralf Rangnick and he is demanding a crisis meeting with the club owners. “It’s disrespectful and not the Milan style.”

The situation at the club is increasingly tense, with reports of clashes in strategy between CEO Gazidis on one side, directors and former teammates Paolo Maldini and Boban on the other.

This issue has now apparently exploded with Boban essentially admitting Gazidis had talks with Ralf Rangnick to take over as coach and potentially also director of sport next season, without informing his colleagues.

“Until a few days ago, I thought it was true that there were not two souls within Milan, albeit taking into account all the thousand initial difficulties, cultural differences and very different passions for the Rossoneri cause,” Boban told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The fact we’re having to talk about this is not good for anyone. The worst part is that this destabilising event is happening during a moment when the team is improving and you can see Stefano Pioli’s hard work.

“Not even warning us was disrespectful and inelegant. It was not the Milan style. At least not what we remembered the Milan style as being.”

Boban was asked if there was no way of the current directors working together to make Milan great again, but his response suggested there is no way back with Gazidis.
“The way I see it, unity means sharing, unity means respect. At the end of the day, we need that approach, it is the only way to work and feel good.

“We’ve already talked to Gazidis. For the good of Milan, it is certainly necessary that a meeting with the ownership happens as soon as possible.”

The club is owned by Elliott Management Corporation, the US hedge fund that essentially repossessed AC Milan after previous President Yonghong Li defaulted on repaying a loan he had used to buy the team from Silvio Berlusconi.

“The owners must be clear both in terms of the budget and their objectives,” continued Boban. “In essence, we must respect the needs of the club to balance the books, while the owners must respect leaving the sporting results to those who represent the history and values of a great club.

“At this moment, despite the efforts we made in the January transfer window, making many cuts and sales to lower the wage bill, we still don’t know what margins we’ll be working with for the summer.

“We were asked to lower the average age of the squad and we did that, but always maintaining the need for the right mix between youth and experience. The January transfer window shows we were right, you can see how quickly the younger players improved with more senior figures by their side.”

Boban was asked when Milan will be able to at least compete to get back into the Champions League.

“First of all, we have to finish the season and see where we are, but it’s already a different Milan. We don’t say that we have to win next season, but we should be competitive and fight it out at least with everyone in Italy.

“We are well aware that we are not experiencing the Milan of our day, but there has to be some real ambition that makes you dream.”

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues his climb up the all-time Serie A goalscoring chart, with his sights firmly set on two Rossoneri legends.

Stefano Pioli’s men welcome Genoa to the San Siro on Sunday, and while the match will be played behind closed doors due to outbreak of the coronavirus in Italy, there is reason to keep an eye on the contest for everyone watching at home.

The Swede has two goals in seven Serie A appearances since rejoining Milan in January, pushing him past the likes of Pietro Ferraris II, Renzo Burini, Gianluca Vialli and David Trezeguet to sit 46th on the list of Serie A’s most prolific goalscorers with 124 goals.

Ciro Immobile is next with 126, and given his torrid pace this season he’s likely to continue his surge up the list.

However two Milan legends slot in right after, with Gianni Rivera and Andriy Shevchenko sitting in 43rd and 44th with 128 and 127 goals respectively.

While Ibrahimovic would need a monumental performance to catch the duo on Sunday, a goal or two against Genoa would no doubt send him on his way to moving further up the list of Serie A’s greats.
