🎙️Stephan Reich: "Rangnick worked with Rebic when he was in RB Leipzig and he didn't like him because of his work ethics back then. However, Rebic was only 20 years old at that time. He didn't have enough minutes. He played 11 games and left at the season's end." https://t.co/FaJ4mTqLMd

AC Milan make official offer for defender
Posted on July 8, 2020 by Rossonero

AC Milan have made an official offer for Wesley Fofana. The French defender of Saint-Etienne is one of Ligue 1 revelations this season.
AC Milan have been following Wesley Fofana for a long time. The 20-year-old Saint Etienne centre back is one of the most promising talents in France. The Rossoneri scouts have followed him on several Ligue 1 matches and have made very positive reports on him.

The French club extended the contract of Fofana from 2022 to 2024 in April but they could still sell him in the summer. Faced with an attractive offer, Saint Etienne would green light the transfer.

According to reports by journalist Mohamed Toubache on Twitter, AC Milan have made an official offer of 18 million euros for Wesley Fofana. Saint-Etienne have refused the Rossoneri’s proposal and value their starlet at 30 million.

The Rossoneri are willing to try again but will not go beyond a certain amount. Fofana is a talent with great qualities but he has only one season with the first team of Saint Etienne and therefore the transfer price cannot be excessive. This season the French defender has made 23 appearances scoring 2 goals.

Wesley Fofana is certainly attracted by the idea of joining AC Milan and Ralf Rangnick hopes to be able to sign the 19-year-old defender when the summer transfer window opens. Other important clubs have also set their sights on the player who is ready to evaluate any proposals he will receive.

📰 Calcio e Finanza: Elliott will sign a 5-year contract with Ralf Rangnick. He will be on a 5M€ salary. The transfer budget that he will be provided will be between 120M€ and 160M€.

🎙️ Fabio Capello: "If Milan wants to start from zero again they will lose more years. With all due respect to Rangnick, I think that Pioli is doing a very good job and he has shown that he has great intelligence, technically, tactically and management-wise."

🎙️Capello talking about Maldini: "I know him very well since his Primavera days. He has a unique personality. He could be useful to Milan in a specific role. He deserves respect. He should be offered an operative role and not a representative one."

*Milan 'eye €75m triple swoop for Tonali, Fiorentina's Vlahovic & Celtic's Ajer'*

a day ago / autty
Milan are reportedly targeting a €75m triple swoop for Sandro Tonali, Dusan Vlahovic and Kristoffer Ajer this summer.

Tonali seemed destined for Inter, but Sky Sport Italia broke last night that incoming Milan chief Ralf Rangnick ‘really likes’ the Brescia midfielder.

Therefore, the Rossoneri are expected to make an effort for the 20-year-old, who has six assists and one goal in 27 games this season.

He has never hidden his affection for the Diavolo, with their arch-rivals yet to agree a fee and Juventus still holding back.

Up top, Sky claims Milan are weighing up a move for Vlahovic as he would be ‘tactically compatible’ with Ante Rebic and is considered an ‘excellent prospect’.

Also 20, the Serb has six goals in 24 appearances for Fiorentina but has yet to commit his long-term future to the club.

Finally, to bolster central defence, the broadcaster states Milan are still interested in Ajer.

The San Siro side have been tracking the Celtic stopper for several months but, with Premier League clubs circling, they will need to act quickly.

However, Milan cannot splurge too much on the trio as Sky warns they will have only €75m to spend this summer before any sales.

MilanTalk spoke to Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews.it this week and gained some interesting insight on a number of key issues at Milan heading into the summer.

As noted by the Guardian earlier this week, it has been suggested that Ralf Rangnick has already agreed to become the next coach of the Rossoneri from next season, while he may yet also become sporting director at the club too.

Naturally, if that appointment was to materialise as suggested, that would ultimately lead to exits for current incumbents Stefano Pioli and Paolo Maldini, as they would effectively be replaced by the German.

The knock-on effect of such a major decision at those levels will be felt in the squad too, both in terms of exits and signings as Rangnick will undoubtedly want to stamp his mark on the squad.

So, we asked Vitiello how the situation currently stands and what decisions we can expect from Milan ahead of next season…

Pioli and Rangnick…

Q: There were reports this week that Ralf Rangnick has now agreed to become coach next season, is that decision 100% made? Is there any chance that Stefano Pioli stays given our impressive recent form?

A: “Rangnick will be the next coach and director at AC Milan, there are no more doubts. Indeed, talks are already underway with agents for the market. Pioli has done a good job, but will leave Milan.”

Maldini future

Q: What would Rangnick’s arrival mean for current director and club legend Paolo Maldini?

A: “It’s unlikely that Maldini will stay at Milan. From what we know, Paolo will not accept a new role in the club, and does not want to work alongside Rangnick in that lesser role. The percentage of seeing Maldini at Milan next year is low.”

Transfer plans – who will stay?

Q: What’s the latest on whether or not Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Giacomo Bonaventura and Simon Kjaer will stay as their current deals expire this summer? Has there been any progress in Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract talks and signing Ante Rebic on a permanent basis?

A: “Milan want to keep Donnarumma, with his contract expiring next year. Soon there will be a meeting with his agent [Mino] Raiola, the idea is to extend the contract for two years, confirming the wage of €6m-per-season.

Milan also want to sign Rebic outright. It’s unlikely that Ibrahimovic will remain because of his age and the project of the club, and the same goes for Bonaventura. On Kjaer, there are ongoing evaluations over whether or not he will be redeemed.”

Transfer plans – who could arrive?

Q: And lastly, Dominik Szoboszlai is being heavily linked with joining us [as noted by Calciomercato]. Is he a priority for Milan this summer? Are there others Milan will prioritise?

A: “Szoboszlai is one of the main targets for the market. Milan like him a lot and the player also wants to come. They still need to close the deal, and Rangnick could be key in that for Milan to get it done. There are other targets such as [Tiemoue] Bakayoko, [Wesley] Fofana of Saint-Etienne, Florentino Luis (Benfica) and [Kristoffer] Ajer. [Denzel] Dumfries is also appreciated.”

AC Milan discussed the possible signing of three players during a meeting with agent Fali Ramadani on Wednesday, according to a report.

The Rossoneri leadership met with Ramadani at Casa Milan to discuss the situation regarding Ante Rebic, who the club wish to sign permanently from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Friday’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanLive) adds that there were a trio of targets that also came up in conversation, starting with Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic.

He will be leaving Real Madrid for technical and behavioural issues, but would have to cut his salary in half to join the Rossoneri. In addition, the basis of the deal must also favour the Diavolo, such as a two-year loan with option or obligation to buy.

Above all, Milan do not intend to spend the €60m amount invested a year ago by Los Blancos.

The other names that were mentioned are two Fiorentina players: Nikola Milenkovic and Dusan Vlahovic. The former would be the reinforcement that the management intends to place alongside Alessio Romagnoli, the second would instead be an alternative to Jovic.

The same outlet recently reports that Vlahovic would cost any interested suitor €40m, while Milenkovic is believed to be in the €30-40m mark.

German newspaper Bild have labelled Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘arrogant’ for saying he does not know who Ralf Rangnick is.
Ibrahimovic launched into a startling tirade during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he stated that he is unlikely to remain at AC Milan because he is ‘practically playing for free’.

It is not the first time that Ibrahimovic has expressed displeasure at the running of the club, as there was a heated confrontation between Ibrahimovic and CEO Ivan Gazidis at Milanello last month.
When asked about rumours that Stefano Pioli could be replaced by Ralf Rangnick, the Swede was blunt: “Who is Rangnick? I don’t even know who he is.”

Now, the famous German newspaper Bild have responded, labelling Ibrahimovic “arrogant” for replying that way about Rangnick. Despite not being considered an elite manager, his work is still respected and has inspired many great managers such as Jurgen Klopp, so it is unlikely Ibrahimovic has not heard of him.

Lineup tested ahead of Napoli:

Donnarumma; Conti, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo; Kessie, Bennacer; Saelemaekers (Paqueta alternated with him), Rebic, Calhanoglu; Ibra

[via @AntoVitiello]

Ibrahimovic: “Pioli is a great man because it’s not easy to work in this situation the way he is doing, the team is with him. He is very similar to Allegri. If he had the same team Max had I am 200% sure he would have easily won the scudetto.”

Milan’s doubts on redeeming Kjaer lie in his salary (€2.5M/year) which is a lot for a 31-year-old according to Elliott’s parameters, while his buyout clause fee can be easily paid. Kjaer, who wants to stay, is waiting for a call from Gazidis.

Antonio Vitiello: There is no official bid from AC Milan yet for Nahuel Bustos. The Rossoneri are still thinking on whether to present an offer to his club, Talleres, or not. https://t.co/ooMqu10NDv
