Milan coach Stefano Pioli has said Sandro Tonali has the ‘qualities’ to claim a place in the starting line-up.

The defensive midfielder moved to Milan from Brescia during the summer and has started two games for the Rossoneri in Serie A.

Tonali has played in all four games so far, but only played three minutes in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter after the international break.

Pioli believes the 20-year-old, who recovered from coronavirus ahead of the new season, will get many opportunities during a long season.

“He had a difficult summer,” Pioli told Radio Anch’io. “He’s a player with great prospects, has great qualities and knows how to make the ball move faster.

“For me, he’s a starter. But I’m lucky to have many starters. We are not even set on one single system; we will see along the way.”

Milan currently prepare for their first match in the Europa League group stage against Celtic on Thursday.

Juventus-Napoli could still go ahead, according to Il Mattino, as the Partenopei’s appeal at CONI could change the sports judge’s decision.

Napoli have submitted a formal appeal against the decision of the FIGC judge to give the Azzurri a 3-0 defeat by default against Juventus and a one-point deduction.

The newspaper claims it remains to be seen if the Neapolitans could have travelled on Sunday afternoon and if the Azzurri’s appeal could change the outcome.

The battle has arrived at CONI, as the Partenopei are pushing to replay the match but Juventus will not appear in court for the appeal.

Pioli has managed to go 20 games in a row without defeat in all competitions with #ACMilan.

Only six other coaches in the history of the club have managed to do that: Fabio Capello, Arrigo Sacchi, Nereo Rocco, Lajos Czeizler and Nils Liedholm.

CALABRIA TO FACE BAN

Milan defender Davide Calabria could face a ban after
showing the middle finger during Milan’s celebration for the
derby win on Saturday.

A picture that was shared by a few Rossoneri fans on Twitter
show the Italian defender showing the middle finger to the
crowd, maybe to Inter fans.

According to Il Giornale , the 23-year-old could face a ban if
members of the Federal Prosecutor's office or the referees
had seen his gesture and reported it.

The Sports Judge could can't suspend anyone, neither with a
TV test, if the gesture had not been seen by members of the
Federal Prosecutor's office or the referees.

PAULO DYBALA LEFT OUT OF STARTING ELEVEN AGAIN

Paulo Dybala could once again start from the bench in
Juventus’ Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev on
Tuesday, reports in Italy claim.

The Argentinean wasn’t happy for not being involved at all in
the Old Lady’s 1-1 draw at Crotone at the weekend.

“He was upset because he didn’t come in on Saturday but he
is coming back from three months of inactivity and three days
in a room in Argentina being treated for an intestinal virus,”
Pirlo explained in a pre-match press conference.

“He could play in Crotone but we were reduced to ten men
and it was not possible to let him in.

“Now he is available, sooner or later he will have to enter the
pitch.”

Reports in Italy suggest it may be later rather than sooner as
La Joya is set to start from the bench against Dynamo Kiev.

Although Pirlo could use him in the second half, “Il Maestro”
is likely to start with the Aaron Ramsey behind the two strikers
Alvaro Morata and Dejan Kulusevski.

Wojciech Szczęsny is expected to start in goal after that he
was rested at Crotone.

Danilo, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio
Chiellini will be the defenders of a three-man back-line while
the young Gianluca Frabotta may start wide on the left in a
Bianconeri’s midfield completed by Adrien Rabiot, Rodrigo
Bentancur and Juan Cuadrado.

The Colombian may also start on the left with Federico Chiesa
on the right-hand side of the pitch and Frabotta on the bench.

Na Scudeto ya mwaka huu inakuja Milan

🇮🇹 Davide Calabria (23) is averaging 4.8 tackles won per game in Serie A. First in the league.

All wins. 💯

And that leads the league by a lot. Credit where credit is due. ⚔️

Brahim Diaz seems set to be the natural replacement for the injured Hakan Calhanoglu ahead of Thursday’s trip to face Celtic, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Stefano Pioli will largely confirm the starting XI that took the field for the derby against Inter on Saturday, but there will be two changes.

It is clear that Pioli therefore sees the importance of picking up points early in the competition, as he will apparently select a back four of Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Sandro Tonali will partner Franck Kessie in a change, with Alexis Saelemaekers on the right, Rafael Leao on the left and Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front, but Brahim will step in for Calhanoglu who should be out for 7-10 days.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Kessie, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic.
