Billy Costacurta on Sky on Mandžukić to Milan: "I believe it may be correct to ask Ibra, in an unofficial way, for an opinion on this purchase. It was also done in our time when I was one of the senators in the dressing room." https://t.co/qqjXZr07eA

Franck Kessié welcomes Soualiho Meïté at Milan and he says a 5-0 defeat against Atalanta in 2019 was a key turning point for Milan.

“That game was a turning point for us,” Kessié told Il Giornale.

“We are Milan and we can’t make such a bad impression. From that day, something changed," he added.

“Pioli explained what he wanted from us. The group has been following him and we do it all the time now, we follow his ideas.

“Playing with two centre midfielders has given us more self-confidence and improved the performances of defenders.

“We must thank the skeptics, they motivate us every day, they are our vitamins," the 24-year-old continued.

“Everyone is playing behind closed doors, everyone has the same condition, if we could play in front of our fans, it would be helpful for us.”

Can Milan win the Scudetto?

“We focus on one game at a time, now we think about Cagliari. We are Milan, history speaks for us, a club like Milan must always be at ease when we talk about Scudetto. However, we are not alone in the race.”

Milan announced the signing of Meité on Friday.

“I would tell him: ‘Look at how we train and learn quickly, because we ned help.’

“We play one game every three days, we’ll need everyone’s help to get till the end. Meite is physically very strong, he showed his qualities at Torino and he can score some goals too, he will help us.”

Peirre Kalulu was interviewed by Sky Sport about his season so far with AC Milan. Here are his statements:

“Honestly, I know I’m an ambitious guy, so I always want to play. Then if you ask me if I expected to play so much right away, it must be said that there were injuries and I was able to take the opportunities I had. I prepare myself to always to be ready to play.”

On the dream of becoming a footballer:

“For me it’s always been a dream to be a footballer. Plus, playing in a club like Milan is really the realisation of this dream. From an early age, I dreamt of doing this job. I felt very proud from the start, it was my first contract as a professional and it was a great emotion. Milan is a historic club, it’s normal to be proud to wear this shirt.”

On the absences:

“It is true that we have been hit by many absences, important players have been missing. But all the players in training give their maximum for the team. Therefore when someone is missing because they are injured or suspended, we know that whoever replaces them will be ready to give everything.”

“Obviously we dream of finishing first, winning the championship but we know that the road will be long. There is still a lot of work to be done and there are many matches to win to reach our dream.”

On his debut:

“On the eve of the match in Prague the coach asked me if I had ever played central, I said yes and it went well. With Parma, on the other hand, it was a bit of a surprise, but we had to get into the game immediately and I think I succeeded. Honestly, there was no time to feel a lot of emotion, it was all so fast.”

On Romagnoli:

“We understand each other well on the pitch, he advises me which position to hold, but I feel good with the other defenders too. Similarities with Desailly? A comparison that flatters me a lot. I think there are similar aspects, but I don’t think we are the same. Everyone has their unique features.”

On Pioli:

“The coach gives me confidence and puts me at ease, I always learn many things from him and his staff. I like him a lot because they give me freedom and let me play as I know how.”

On Ibrahimovic:

“Of course we listen to him, when a player with his achievements speaks, it’s normal to listen. I try to follow what he says, his advice is important.”

On the game against Cagliari:

“It’s an important game, but all of them are. We will be well-prepared to win it.”

Barcelona want to sign AC Milan defender
Posted on January 16, 2021 by Rossonero

Barcelona have contacted Manchester Untied to discuss the future of defender Diego Dalot who is currently on loan at AC Milan.
AC Milan have just completed the signing of Soualiho Meite from Torino while Leo Duarte has left to join Istanbul Basaksehir. Maldini and Massara are in negotiations to bring in new players but the duo may be facing an unexpected problem.

Mundo Deportivo and La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Barcelona want to sign AC Milan defender Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese right back is on loan in Italy until the end of the season.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo Barcelona have contacted Manchester United to discuss the future of Dalot. Barcelona are ready to offer 12.5 million to purchase Dalot and cut short his loan in Italy.

Blaugrana coach Ronald Koeman is not pleased with his full-backs and has asked for reinforcements. Even if Barcelona find an agreement with Manchester United they still have to convince Milan to let go the Portuguese right-back.

The 21-year-old is on dry loan and the Rossoneri don’t have an option to make his transfer permanent. Nevertheless, Maldini will try to reach a deal with the English giants if Dalot performs well until the end of the season. The former Porto has made 14 appearances so far playing on both sides of the defence.

AC Milan and Mario Mandzukic have reached a contractual agreement, a report claims, with the striker set to sign next week.

According to the information that we have, Mandzukic is one step (and a few details) away from becoming a new Milan player and looks set to follow Soualiho Meite as the second signing of the January window.

According to Calciomercato.com meanwhile, the deal will be signed by Tuesday at the latest and Stefano Pioli will have the former Juventus striker at his disposal in the coming days.

The overall agreement is one that could last for 18 months, with the final details linked to the formula of the duration still to be worked out. It could be an 18-month deal outright, or an initial six-month deal with an option to extend it by a further year based on certain circumstances.

Further details such as salary and squad number are expected to follow, while Daniele Longo adds that Ibrahimovic is very happy with the potential arrival of the Croatian.

Stefano Pioli spoke during the press conference ahead of the Serie A fixture against Cagliari, these are his statements:

What is the meaning of tomorrow’s match against Cagliari?

“We have to be ready, a difficult match awaits us, the opponent has collected less than he deserved, they can field players like Nainggolan, Godin, Joao Pedro. Expert and prepared players, we must be too.”

The players speak well of Milan…

“The positivity of the environment, the harmony with the club makes us a very close-knit and cohesive group. The team is playing with head and heart, these are characteristics we must insist on.”

How much would Milan lose with the absences of Theo Hernàndez and Hakan Calhanoglu?

“These are important absences for us. We must have our team ready and double our energies. The qualities that we will demonstrate tomorrow will be important and they will make us play a great match.”

“We have to keep working, the title of winter champion counts very little. We need to be focused on tomorrow’s race, it’s difficult, considering it the most important match of the championship.”

On Ibrahimovic’s recovery:

“It is very important, we all know his technical depth and character. He has overcome muscle problems, I have seen him well these days, he is ready to play tomorrow against Cagliari.”

How are you dealing in view of the situation of Covid?

“We are used to it, we are ready. I expect players to always be ready, to always be in training and matches. These are critical issues that must be addressed with determination and conviction in the strength of the team. In these situations we have always found new energy and new opportunities to demonstrate our value.”

On suffering more setbacks than opponents

“It is a special season for everyone, not just for us. A month ago we had the whole team available, in this situation these moments can happen. We have shown that we are compact, which is why the club has made a competitive squad group available for me.”

How much can Mandzukic give to this team?

“We have a very important game tomorrow, I can’t comment on the players I don’t have available. I have a lot of confidence in my managers, the club will strengthen the team if there is a chance.”

Is it better to meet Cagliari in crisis or in confidence?

“It is difficult to make these evaluations in the pre-match, the games must always be faced with respect, we want to try to command the game knowing that there will be suffering.”

What do you think of Meité?

“He makes a department that already had a certain solidity even more competitive. He combines quality and quantity, I like him very much, I saw that he is very eager to play. I also liked when he spoke, proving to be an ambitious player.”

“We live AC Milan on a daily basis, the club protects and stimulates us, always ready to improve a group of players that is proving to be very competitive. Given the injuries and the particular season, in addition to the fatigue because of many obligations, the club will be ready to reinforce the team if there is an opportunity.”

Did you expect such a path a year ago?

“I have always had a lot of faith in my players. January 2020 was very important for the market and the additions of the mercato, they gave us an important contribution and we have grown a lot. Expecting such growth was not easy, but we worked with care and consistency. My players and I are aware that we still have a lot of room for improvement. Now that we are on this path, we want to stay there for a long time. “

What are the changes when Ibrahimovic plays or not?
“The team has shown that they have well-executed game ideas. Strong teams are able to exploit the characteristics of individuals, we have to play well as a unit. Saying that we play better without Ibrahimovic is something that is neither in heaven nor on earth. You have a better chance of winning matches if you carry on an idea throughout the entirety of the match.”

On Kjaer’s contribution for the defense

“Simon is an important presence also for his way of communicating. His way of being on the pitch helps us a lot. The team knows they have to work intensely in the defensive phase throughout the match. But, we are an attacking team and we must try to create more chances than the opponent.”

Some more information has emerged regarding the terms of the deal that will see Mario Mandzukic return to Serie A with AC Milan.

According to what Pietro Balzano Prota has told us, Milan are working to close the double signing of Mandzukic and Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori, with both players currently close to joining.

PBP has shed some light on the deal for the former in particular, stating that head coach Stefano Pioli will welcome the Croatian into his squad in the coming days.

A total agreement has been reached over a contract that could last 18 months, with six months guaranteed plus another year which will automatically be triggered in case of personal objectives (appearances) and qualification for the Champions League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic immediately said yes to the arrival of the former Juventus man, and the Swede has said he would be very happy to be able to play alongside a fellow serial winner. Mandzukic is expected in Italy in the next few hours.

Calciomercato.com report that Mandzukic will earn €1.8million net until the end of the season, which it can then be inferred from that he would get €3.6m for a full season.

⚠️ Di Marzio

The negotiations between Napoli and Marseille for Milik have continued, with the Ligue 1 club raising their offer to €8m plus €3m in bonuses. An agreement on the percentage on future sale remains to be found. The Azzurri would also like to include a clause which will prevent the striker from signing for a Serie A club for three years.

Napoli must also reach an agreement with Milik to renew his contract for 18 months in preperation for the loan with an obligation to buy which should be the transfer formula that the two clubs will agree on.

The desire of the Polish striker is to join Marseille and play immediately. In fact he had better offers, even offers to sign him as free agent at the end of the season but he rejected them all.
