Christian Eriksen has revealed that AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer helped him settle into life in Italy after his move to Inter.

The attacking midfielder joined the Nerazzurri from Spurs but found opportunities very difficult to come by at first under head coach Antonio Conte, even hitting out at his treatment since arriving towards the end of last year and being linked with a move across the city divide to Milan.

Now though Eriksen has forged a place in Conte’s hierarchies as the creative element of the midfield three, and it seems as though Inter’s efforts to sign him are beginning to bear fruit. The Rossoneri’s city rivals are on course to win their first Scudetto since 2010 as they have a nine-point lead at the top of the table.

The former Spurs star spoke to TV2 Sport in Denmark and talked about his life in Italy so far, revealing that his compatriot Kjaer helped him settle.

“Kjaer helped me so much when I arrived in Italy, but obviously, he plays for the wrong team. After all, he is in the right city,” Eriksen said (via Football Italia).

“I’ve played with him for a long time, and I know him very well on and off the pitch. He helped me to settle in. I understand many things in Italian and knowing the language helps me to understand what the coach wants.

“Honestly, I haven’t practised Italian too much. The 2020-21 season was suspended due to COVID and I have a child at home. I had to manage multiple commitments.”
