Gianni Di Marzio to #TMWRadio: "There are 9 games to go, Juve still have many direct clashes, they really risk.
Milan? I think there’s disappointment, a decline in concentration.
In Jan tried to accelerate & believe in Scudetto.
Milan must be careful, schedule seems affordable”

Fabio Cannavaro has revealed that he learned a lesson from AC Milan’s CEO Ivan Gazidis regarding the current state of Serie A and Italian football.

Gazidis has previously outlined his belief that Italian football has the biggest potential for growth in any country and that Milan are the club that have the biggest potential within it, and he has done so on more than one occasion.

Since arriving at the club, the former Arsenal chief – assisted by new owners Elliott Management – have embarked on a different vision from that of past ownerships and other Italian clubs. The aim has been to build sustainably through targeted investments on young players, with an exciting brand of football and a progressive commercial strategy.

Cannavaro spoke during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport and in particular he touched on the current state of affairs surrounding Italy’s top flight, conveying his belief that some outdated attitudes are holding clubs back.

“I’m sorry, but our movement has become one of the worst in Europe. Even the American MLS is better organized, for infrastructure. And then also the club choices to sign players at the end of their career and invest little on young players,” he said (via MilanNews).

“The game has become impoverished and the league becomes less fascinating, even if we are convinced that we are the best tactically. However, there are elements that make us hope for a rebirth despite everything. On the level of the game we have a good national team, modern in terms of game concepts. Able to propose itself without ever being afraid. They have still only competed in qualifying matches, but I am convinced that they will be able to be protagonists in the European Championship and in the World Cup.

“Then, from the organisational point of view, I’m doing a Masters organised by FIFA. In recent days I have carefully followed the lesson of Ivan Gazidis. He explained that, paradoxically, Italian football has remained so far behind that it has the greatest room for growth. And I agree, the new foreign properties are investing for this reason.”

“As a player, I hated the Mercato. I didn’t want to leave & Milan didn’t think about selling me.”

“The last 3 to 4 times I renewed, I did it on my own, without my agent.”

“After the 2007 UCL, I went to the renewal meeting using crutches & my terms were met.” https://t.co/ywIqJ9CAnC

Milan hunt for a left-back
an hour ago / autty
Milan will send Diogo Dalot back to Manchester United, so other options are Matias Viña, Elseid Hysaj and Junior Firpo.

It’s widely reported in Italy that the Rossoneri won’t try to buy Dalot outright from Manchester United following this loan spell.

The club is therefore on the lookout for alternatives to Theo Hernandez at left-back.

According to Calciomercato.com, there are three main candidates for the role.

The first is Palmeiras and Uruguay star Viña, who had already been linked with Milan over the last couple of years.

His €18m asking price remains a problem, especially with interest also from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Equally costly is Barcelona’s Junior Firpo, who would be in the region of €15m, and he is also a target for Napoli.

Junior Firpo is considered to be the ideal replacement for Hysaj, who will leave as a free agent at the end of this season.

Albania international Hysaj would be a valuable signing for Milan, as he can play on the left or right of defence.

He is being offered around to various clubs in Italy, including Roma, Lazio and Inter, but Milan remain the favourites.

His agent Mario Giuffredi spoke to Radio Punto Nuovo this evening about the reports.

“Hysaj’s future is still uncertain. He could still go to many clubs, not just Milan. Unfortunately, before deciding on his future, the clubs need to have some clarity on their coaches.”

When asked if the interest from Milan was real, his response was: “No comment.”

Bennacer’s ex-coach gives advice to Milan about his role and tells excellent anecdote

6th April 2021.

Ismael Bennacer has become a very important part of AC Milan’s current squad, and can thank his former coach Aurelio Andreazzoli for his early development.
Bennacer joined Milan from Empoli back in the summer of 2019 and although he arrived as somewhat of an unknown quantity, it quickly became apparent – after some initial adaptation – that they had a real talent on their hands.

The Rossoneri snatched him from Empoli after they were relegated to Serie B for a figure widely reported to be around the €16m mark, and he won the AFCON Player of the Tournament, lifting the trophy with Algeria, instantly showing his pedigree.
He has since gone on to become one of the best technical midfielders in the league and has formed a very effective double pivot with Franck Kessie. Aurelio Andreazzoli – the coach who introduced Bennacer at Empoli – has shed some light on the 22-year-old during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The credit for his move to being a mezzala goes not only to me but above all to my staff. He started as an attacking midfielder, and for me he can still do it today, he has the qualities. He would be freer from tactical instructions, but as a director he’s fine,” he said (via MilanLive).
“This season he was unlucky, he never had a physical problem with me, he had a particular injury, very complicated. He is a workaholic, he always wants to train and improve, he had to be taken away from the field.”
On the understanding with Kessie: “Pioli was good at creating the perfect couple, one organises and the other plays, they complement each other.”
On comparisons: “He looks like Paredes, Leo is a bit taller, but his technical skills and qualities are identical.”
An anecdote about the past: “Once in Empoli he was on the bench but he had to enter due to an injury to Acquah, but he had forgotten his shirt in the locker room. When he got back Sassuolo had drawn level.”
