Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are said to be pushing the Milan management to sign Crotone’s Junior Messias this summer with one Week left in the Summer Transfer Market.

La Repubblica have claimed that while Torino are interested in Messias, they aren’t willing to meet the €10 million asking price.

Milan would present a dream for the Player but the club’s management isn’t fully convinced about moving for the Him.

Elliot’s approach is to sign younger players with a resale value, while Messias is 30 already. But Maldini and Massara remain convinced that he will bring something important to the team and Elliot would need to be convinced as well to sign him quick.

🚨 @RudyGaletti: #Tottenham is on pressing on #Kessie. If he will leave, #Milan is thinking to bring in Italy #RenatoSanches from #LOSC

🎙️ Paolo Maldini "The renewal of Kessié? There is a common line, we have to do what is sustainable. In the past, this was not done and we paid for it. Both renewals and acquisitions will follow this spirit. I have no preconceptions, I am open to many solutions." https://t.co/mkBspgHo4K

Apart from Correa, Inter have also opened negotiations with Torino for Andrea Belotti who would cost €20/22m plus bonuses.

The next few hours will be decisive with Inter who will have to decide on which player to bet on for the season, Belotti or Correa. The choice of Simone Inzaghi will be decisive and also Lazio's willingness or not to lower their request for Correa.

AC Milan started the season in the best way possible as they beat Sampdoria by one goal to nil in a hard-fought game. Brahim Diaz was the big hero with the winner, but several players stood out tonight.

Starting XI

Maignan (7.5 – MOTM): It was a very good debut for the Frenchman as he not only made several good stops, but also showed his quality on the ball. He had several successful long balls, most notably the one before the goal, and this helped unlock the game.

Calabria (7): Very solid display from the captain of the night, assisting the goal and working hard on the right flank. He lost the ball on one occasion that could have been costly, but indeed very solid otherwise.

Kjaer (6.5): The Dane was commanding at the back, as usual, and his performance was good. He perhaps wasn’t as involved in the build-up, due to the nature of the game, but he managed his defensive duties well.

Tomori (7): The former Chelsea man certainly wasn’t afraid to press high this evening and given his pace, he can do that without putting Milan in too much danger. Very good once again and he also had some good long balls.

Hernandez (6): Not the best performance from the Frenchman, but he was almost always involved when Milan went forward and that helped. He made a huge error that almost cost the Rossoneri a goal, fortunately it didn’t.

Tonali (7): Bar a few misplaced passes, the midfielder was flawless this even as he not only used his physicality to win the ball many times, but also dared to stride forward with it. On top of that, he was important in the build-up.

Krunic (7): He certainly performed better than we expected in the deep-lying role and just like with Tonali, his physicality helped. He made several interceptions and blocks much to the satisfaction of the fans, and he was very positive overall.

Saelemaekers (6.5): The intentions are there and the Belgian also works tirelessly on the pitch, there’s no doubt about that. However, he sometimes faded out from the game and wasn’t involved as much as we would like to see.

Brahim Diaz (7): At times, he looks absolutely fantastic as he glides past the defenders. Other times, he fails to make the right decision and that is one thing he can work on. He did, however, get the crucial winner with a half-decent strike (let’s be honest) but he was at the right place.

Leao (7): Yes, you could argue that he should have been more ruthless in front of goal, but today’s performance was positive. He would’ve had a goal if it wasn’t for a stunning save from Audero and he was a constant threat to the defence. His pace and creativity really helped open up Sampdoria.

Giroud (6.5): It might seem like a harsh rating, but let’s keep in mind that 6.5 is actually good. The Frenchman didn’t have a whole lot to work with throughout the game but he did well when called upon. Came close several times to getting on the end of crosses sent into the box.

Substitutes
Bennacer (7): The first sequence he was involved in showed why he’s such an important player for Milan. While Tonali stayed back, he glued the ball to his feet and made his way forward, which is exactly what we want from him. Good display.

Rebic (6.5): There were good intentions but ultimately his impact wasn’t massive. Good energy in defence though and that is always appreciated.

Florenzi (N/A): Got to make his debut but he didn’t play enough to get his first Rossoneri rating.

Romagnoli: N/A

📰 #Tuttosport: If in the last days of the Mercato, #Milan finds a destination for #Castillejo, Junior #Messias could be an interesting opportunity thanks to his ability to cover multiple roles on the pitch. https://t.co/5hGpL0znAS

Elkann hits back at ‘disrespectful’ Ronaldo PSG tweet
by Football Italia
Lapo Elkann hit out at Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani for the ‘disrespectful’ use of Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo’s image in a PSG shirt.

Elkann is a member of the Agnelli family that runs Juve, his brother being John Elkann and his cousin President Andrea Agnelli.

Al-Thani, a member of the family that owns Paris Saint-Germain and who confirmed the Lionel Messi move earlier this summer, posted an image of Ronaldo and Messi standing side-by-side in PSG kits.

He added the word ‘Maybe?’ in three different languages.

Al-Thani posts Ronaldo-Messi PSG image: ‘Maybe?’

“CR7 is a player of Juventus F.C.” wrote Elkann on Twitter in response.

“It is disrespectful to continue putting other jerseys on him as if he were a figurine. If he changes team, wherever he goes, he will have respect as both a man and an athlete.

“You see, as a Gentleman said, football is a passion for us. For generations.”

Ronaldo’s contract with the Bianconeri is due to expire at the end of the season and reports have escalated over the last few days that he is pushing hard for an early exit.

Max Allegri also left CR7 on the bench initially for the opening Serie A fixture against Udinese, a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

L’Equipe claims this evening that Ronaldo is trying to engineer a move to Manchester City, perhaps in exchange for Bernardo Silva or Aymeric Laporte, while Paris Saint-Germain are the only other realistic options.

Notably, in his response to rumours about a Real Madrid return, the Ballon d’Or winner did not mention Juventus at any point, only stating his story with Madrid had been written.

Premier League clubs won’t release players in COVID red zones
by Football Italia
All 20 Premier League clubs have announced they will not release their players for international duty in countries that are ‘red’ zones for COVID-19.

If they were allowed to travel, the current UK government rules would force these players to then isolate for 10 days upon their return.

The Premier League had tried to find an exemption, but when that was not granted, the clubs came together to make the statement.

The decision applies “to nearly 60 players from 19 clubs and 26 red-list countries.”

The countries on the red list include Argentina, Brazil, the rest of South America, Egypt, Mexico and Turkey.

If they had sat out the quarantine period, these players risked missing two Premier League rounds, a UEFA club competition matchday and the third round of the EFL Cup.

FIFA added qualifying matches in September and October for the 2022 World Cup and it remains to be seen if the clubs will face sanctions for refusing to release their players.

The request of Porto for Jesus Corona is around 15M. To bring him with a loan with option he would have to renew. Constant and ongoing dialogues. He is not the only name. @Glongari
