🚨🚑Injury 🤕 updates:

This morning the following players underwent checks with instrumental tests:

#Pobega suffered damage involving the tendon component of the rectus femoris which inserts into the left hip. The lesion deserves a new check-up in a week and a specialist evaluation, in order to choose the most appropriate treatment.

#Okafor, who left the field after feeling a crampy sensation in his left thigh, suffered an injury to a deep flexor muscle, the semimembranosus. It will be re-evaluated in a week.

The tests to which Sportiello and Pellegrino also underwent confirmed the recovery of both (calf injury and foot fracture respectively).

🚨⛔ Repubblica: Why Ibrahimovic will not be allowed in the dressing room during #ACMilan games

sempremilan.com/repubblica-ibr… #SempreMilan

FABIO CANNAVARO:🗣️ "I remember when we faced you in 1997 in an Italy-Brazil." Cesare Maldini, our coach, told us before the game: "Let's see if this is a Phenomenon." And that was when that famous photo was taken in which we had to mark you between two: Paolo Maldini was going to the ball and I was at your foot. "We realized that you really were the phenomenon."

RONALDO:🗣️ "That photo, with the two of you, is the most beautiful of my entire career."

AC Milan will play the second of their three games in the United States tonight when they take on Real Madrid at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Milan began their tour Saturday night with a 3-2 victory against Manchester City at the Yankee Stadium. Although it was only a friendly, there were a lot of positives from the game, and now another test awaits.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes this morning, it is a game that will have a bit of extra meaning given Milan will come face to face with Carlo Ancelotti and Brahim Diaz again. It will kick off at 02:30 CEST, so it is technically in the early hours of Thursday morning.

In the training session on the eve of the game, Paulo Fonseca tried Mattia Liberali as the starter in an attack with Samuel Chukwueze, Alexis Saelemaekers and Marco Nasti. They are the favourites to start, with Lorenzo Torriani in goal.

The absences include Marco Sportiello (injured), Yacine Adli (physical problem) plus Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor, who remained in New Jersey so that they can continue to get into shape after a post-Euros vacation.

Liberali has been one of the surprises of the summer so far and will get another chance tonight, while Fonseca should put Francesco Camarda on the bench. Ancelotti should start with Endrick and Arda Guler in what could be a talent showcase.

Strahinja Pavlovic underwent and passed the medical tests to become a new AC Milan player yesterday, and it was a sigh of relief for all involved.

According to what is being reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), new Milan signings usually carry out their medicals at La Madonnina clinic which is not far from the city centre.

However, Pavlovic’s medical procedure ‘was not a simple formality as in most case’. This is because of what happened back in 2019, when he arrived to sign for Lazio from Partizan Belgrade but his medical showed some small cardiac anomalies.

The results forced Lazio doctors to cancel the transfer and in Italy – as seen after the Christian Eriksen case – the criteria for this type of problem are ‘more stringent’. For this reason, ‘the passing of the medical is more than positive news’ after he did checks at a clinic in Padua.

In the next few hours, Pavlovic will sign a contract that will tie him to Milan for the next five years at around €1.5m net per season, while Milan will pay €18m as a fixed fee to Red Bull Salzburg and €2m in potential bonuses.

The Serbian will not join the team in the USA but will remain at Milanello awaiting their return from the tour, scheduled for either Thursday 8 or Friday 9 August.

As Calciomercato.com report, Pavlovic went back to his city centre hotel before then having dinner with Geoffrey Moncada and his agents.

Paulo Fonseca is having his say when it comes to the summer transfer window because two targets are players he specifically asked for, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, the management are continuing to work to close other incoming deals after Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic. The closest is undoubtedly Emerson Royal of Spurs, but Tammy Abraham of Roma is also being explored as an idea.

Both players were a specific request from the new Milan coach, which shows that Geoffrey Moncada, Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are listening to what he wants to build his squad and best carry out his ideas.

Milan and Tottenham are getting closer to shaking hands over Emerson Royal and there is great optimism that this deal will also be closed in the coming days. The feeling is that €15-16m will be enough, and the Brazilian was seen by Fonseca as an ideal right-back upgrade.

As for Abraham, it will take a little more time to reach a possible agreement. The English striker is also a specific request of the Portuguese coach and the directors are working to try to satisfy him. Roma values him at €25m but Milan do not intend to pay that, so a counterpart could be included

AC Milan take on Real Madrid in Chicago tonight and that means they will be reunited with Carlo Ancelotti, who had a few words on his former club.

Milan are back in action in the 2024 Soccer Champions Tour when they face off against the champions of Europe, Real Madrid, and you can read our preview ahead of the game for all the information you need to know.

Ancelotti is someone who needs little introduction for Milan fans given what he achieved at the club after joining in 2001, including the 2002–03 Champions League and 2002–03 Coppa Italia. The following season, he won the Scudetto and another Champions League three years after that.

He is the longest-serving manager in the history of the club when considering only single spells, and he has won 13 trophies with Real Madrid including three UCLs, establishing himself as one of the greatest managers of all time.

Ancelotti spoke at his pre-match press conference on the eve of the game at Soldier Field and he was asked for a few thoughts on Milan, which were relayed on Reddit.

“Milan are doing a great job with Ibrahimovic. Milan are missing Paolo Maldini, but that’s football. They got a great striker like Morata. Camarda is a young man and is very good,” he said.

This afternoon, Strahinja Pavlovic is expected at Casa Milan to sign the contract that will officially make him a new AC Milan player, and he has chosen his shirt number.

According to MilanNews, the Serbian defender – who will arrive on a permanent basis from Salzburg and pen a long-term deal – has decided to wear the number 31 shirt. After the previous comparisons with Jaap Stam this might well be a nod to the Dutchman, given he wore the same number at Milan.

The list of players who have worn 31 is as follows: Marco Pellegrino, Mattia Caldara, Luca Antonelli, Zan Benedicic, Flavio Roma, Digao, Jaap Stam, Ibrahim Ba, Claiton, Lorenzo Rossetti, Giorgio Frezzolini, Mirco Gasparetto, Vincenzo Maiolo, Patrick Vieira.

The 23-year-old will not join the team in the USA but will remain at Milanello awaiting their return from the tour, scheduled for either Thursday 8 or Friday 9 August. There, he will begin working under the orders of Paulo Fonseca ahead of the new season.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning, Pavlovic will sign a contract that will tie him to Milan for the next five years at around €1.5m net per season, while Milan will pay €18m as a fixed fee to Red Bull Salzburg and €2m in potential bonuses.

Leao to Gds: “ Ibrahimovic talks to me about mentality and says that I have to be meaner.

Morata and Giroud are 2 samples: one came out, another came in.

Camarda is still young but he is doing very well, I expect a lot from him.

Pavlovic he's strong, mean, good with the ball, he's physical.

I must say that I also like the other players approached at Milan this summer"

Rafael Leão on Christian Pulisić for ESPN:

I knew Christian's qualities well. He didn't play much at Chelsea. When he joined Milan, I sent him a message:

"...Brother, let's "kill them"..."

We really needed someone like him to bring something different to the pitch.

Serie A is a complicated competition with strong defenders. We needed someone different, someone with the right pace and quality.

I think, Pulisić has fitted in very well with our team. I'm happy to play with him. He's a player, who can change the course of a game in a second. I expect him to repeat his good streak from last season and maybe even improve some things with the start of the new season.

I'm not a coach, but I would prefer Christian to play as a '10'. Playing in the middle, he could move more easily to both the right and left side of the pitch. I think, he can be more dangerous in that position. Playing as a '10', he could give us more assists, we could play faster. He can do everything. Christian is good both as an attacking midfielder and as a right winger.

🚨 Ambrosini 🗣 : "One day, Ancelotti entered the locker room to explain some things before our match against Roma at the Olimpico. Then he said:

"Free kicks...?? For the balls on the right, Ronaldinho will take them. On the left, Pirlo will take them.

The close ones to the goal will be taken by Beckham or Ronaldinho.
As for those farther than 30 meters, Pirlo will take them. Got it?"

At that moment, Seedorf raised his hand and said, "And me?"

Ancelotti threw the towel and papers, saying, "Damn, there are too many of you!" 😂 🤣

🖤❤

Paulo Fonseca after the match against Real Madrid:

On the match:

I am pleased with the courage shown by our players. I have a very good feeling. At the moment, the result isn't the most important thing. This victory makes the players believe in the process so far. There are still many things, that need to be improved.

On the current work:

I assess the first 3 weeks of work positively. We are working hard with an open mind. I think, the wins against Manchester City and Real will give the players confidence.

On Pavlović:

He is a strong, aggressive, left-footed defender, who will bring a lot of physicality to our team. The players, who are currently with us in the United States, have a certain advantage, because they have been with us almost from the beginning. Despite everything, I think Pavlović will have no major problems learning our way of playing and defending.

On Pulisić:

Christian is fantastic. His quality is incredible. He will certainly be very important for us in the upcoming season.

On Musah:

I am sure, he will be a very important player for us. It is obvious, that he still has to learn. Yunus has the right qualities to play in his position.

On Liberali:

Liberali plays with courage and a lot of confidence. We have to think and understand, what is best for him: go on loan or play where he will have more space, stay with us for a while or get a chance at Milan Futuro.

On Chukwueze:

He didn't play much last season. When a new coach comes in, everyone wants to show their best side. Samuel is doing really well. I think, he will be an important figure in our team and can make a difference.
